## In short

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, Busan, with sea views. After a walk along Gwangalli’s night sea, I had whole-garlic yuringi chicken and spicy octopus rice with a poached egg for 16,000 and 35,000 won. Verdict: a lovely choice for food, atmosphere, and night views together.

## A Marine City Chinese restaurant after a walk by Gwangalli’s night sea

Late on a weekend evening, I was walking along Gwangalli’s night sea and ended up heading to Marine City for some fresh air.

The daytime heat has eased off lately, and the evening breeze is pleasantly cool—it really feels like the perfect season for walks has arrived.

After making our way to Marine City and enjoying the night breeze, we went into Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 마린시티점) for dinner.

Its ocean view and upscale restaurant atmosphere, a little different from a typical Chinese restaurant, made a real impression.

## Marine City night views and parking

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is on the second floor of the Subyeon Choego Dwaeji Gukbap building at 51 Marine City 3-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan.

I visited at night, and the Marine City skyline seen from the building’s second floor was quite beautiful.

The view toward Gwangandaegyo Bridge was visible through the windows, and passing cruise boats made the mood lovely even before the meal.

Parking was easy, too. You can use the Adelis shopping arcade parking lot, with 90 minutes of parking support available, so visiting by car feels fairly hassle-free.

## A calm space for dining by the sea

As soon as I opened the door and stepped in, the neat, tranquil atmosphere caught my eye.

The lighting and interior felt distinctly different from an ordinary Chinese restaurant, making it feel closer to an upscale Chinese dining restaurant than simply somewhere to eat.

Above all, the view is the real strength here.

At the window seats, you can dine while looking out at the Marine City sea, and private rooms are available too, so it seemed well suited to everything from dates to family meals and gatherings.

I imagine the daytime sea view would be quite different from the nighttime one, so I found myself wanting to come back during the day next time.

## Whole-garlic yuringi chicken and spicy octopus Chinese-style rice

That day, I ordered the spicy octopus Chinese-style rice with a poached egg for ₩16,000 and the whole-garlic yuringi chicken for ₩35,000.

### Whole-garlic yuringi chicken that impressed from the first bite

I tried the whole-garlic yuringi chicken first, and it was very impressive from the first bite.

A rich, savory umami flavor rose right up, to the point where I immediately thought, “Oh, this is delicious.”

The flavor of the fried chicken and the savory sauce worked beautifully together, while the fresh, crisp cabbage kept what could have been a heavy dish feeling clean.

In particular, it felt a little different from the yuringi chicken I had commonly eaten at other Chinese restaurants. Even in one dish, I got the sense that a lot of care had gone into combining the flavors.

### Octopus Chinese-style rice with wok hei and a poached egg

The spicy octopus Chinese-style rice with a poached egg was memorable, too.

It was gently spicy, and personally, it felt like the best parts of jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) had been concentrated and served with rice and octopus.

The rich, soft poached egg joins the distinct flavor of the octopus, along with deep spiciness and wok hei—the smoky flavor from high-heat cooking.

Maybe because I usually enjoy Sichuan food, but I really liked this combination.

## An evening with both night views and good food

- When looking for a good restaurant in Marine City, you want more than just a place to eat—you want the view, atmosphere, and food together, and Bueokgan Chinese fit those conditions well.
- The whole-garlic yuringi chicken was especially impressive for its richness and umami, while the spicy octopus Chinese-style rice brought together smoky wok hei, heat, and the richness of the poached egg.
- Personally, both the finish of the food and the atmosphere of the space felt clearly different from an ordinary Chinese restaurant.

It is also well located for continuing on to Dongbaekseom Island or around The Bay 101 after dinner in Marine City, so it would be nice to add to a day spent enjoying the Busan sea.
