MUG was one of the places I'd been meaning to visit whenever I got to Ulsan. The atmosphere, the coffee, the dessert—all so good that I ended up spending a relaxed few hours here. On land that had grown landscaping trees for over 20 years, a massive wildfire once broke out and burned everything to the ground. It's not just an interior material—it was chosen to remember the pain of losing an entire life's worth of landscaping trees in the 2013 fire. Rather than hiding the scars, MUG faced them head-on and wove them into its brand. It's a space of recovery grown out of loss, built slowly and sturdily, like a single tree. ## The gallery at the MUG entrance Once you open the door, there's a gallery set up inside. This event-like touch was such a nice surprise ✔️ This particular exhibition began with words the artist heard from their father: 'Success is never achieved alone, so don't forget to look back.' It felt like fate itself, echoing the tree's flower language. Their refusal to give up until the end taught us composure and humility. I hesitated a little since this one is chestnut-based, but since it's a bakery café known for its baked goods, I decided to try it.
