## In short

Something About Coffee is a dessert café near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul, that takes up all three of its floors. After lunch on the 2nd-floor terrace, Something About Coffee served a black sesame fig cheesecake at 9,800 won, hojicha choux milk tea at 8,500 won, an iced americano at 6,500 won and a plain scone at 4,500 won, and the gentle sweetness of the milk tea under the hojicha foam suited me more than the foam itself. After a good lunch near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, I went looking for a café with terrace seating and ended up at Something About Coffee.

## What are the three floors of Something About Coffee like?

![Exterior of the Something About Coffee building near Sinnonhyeon Station](https://img.superchart.com/images/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea-01-oufk0-900.webp)

The entire building belongs to Something About Coffee, with seating spread across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. On weekdays there tend to be plenty of open seats, but on weekends, the first order of business the moment you walk in is scouting for a table.

The 1st floor had a great atmosphere — there's a sense of age to it, but it felt well-kept and clean. The tables facing the outdoors looked good too.

The 2nd floor won me over even more because it was bright. If you're looking for a pretty, feel-good café near Sinnonhyeon Station, this is the spot. It's perfect if you want a big, spacious room rather than something small and cozy — it has a bright, cheerful feel, almost like a wedding hall.

## Where are the terrace seats near Sinnonhyeon Station? The 2nd floor

I visited knowing there were terrace seats on the 2nd floor. If you're looking for a terrace café near Sinnonhyeon Station, the 2nd-floor spot here is great. Sitting with a gentle breeze while enjoying coffee and dessert made me genuinely happy.

## What is in the dessert showcase at the 2nd-floor counter?

The counter is on the 2nd floor. This place is also known as a dessert spot near Gangnam Station, and there was a wide variety of desserts — mainly cakes and baked goods.

![Dessert showcase at the 2nd-floor counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea-08-1o79s-900.webp)

There were so many pretty cakes. The yellow cheese cake and pistachio cake both looked tempting...

Since it's fig season, there were actually two fig cakes — a fig fresh cream cake and a black sesame fig cheesecake. There was also a walnut persimmon cheesecake. It's not the kind of cake lineup you see every day, so this ended up being a Sinnonhyeon café I want to visit again, not just once.

As a pound cake addict, this tempted me... the lemon pound looked delicious. There was also a wide variety of financiers, so it could easily pass as a financier spot near Gangnam Station.

They're serious about cookies too — there was a lemon earl grey cookie, an egg cookie, and plenty of scones, great for pairing with coffee.

Sitting at the cool outdoor terrace seats with good coffee and dessert gave me a sense of liberation. I'm not trying to escape everyday life, but healing like this does feel freeing.

## Black sesame fig cheesecake, 9,800 won

Black sesame fig cheesecake — ₩9,800. If you like black sesame and figs, I strongly recommend this. It's pretty for one thing, and the ingredient combination works really well.

![A slice of black sesame fig cheesecake](https://img.superchart.com/images/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea-15-bmnxz-900.webp)

On top is fresh fig, and underneath is rich black sesame cream. I think it was my first time having black sesame cream — it was thick, nutty, whipped cream, and delicious.

The reason I felt the ingredients were combined well is the cheesecake layer. The black sesame cream alone would already be nice, but there's a heavy cheesecake underneath. The pairing of soft black sesame cream and dense, thick cheesecake worked really well together — it gives you a more varied flavor than black sesame cream alone.

## Iced americano, 6,500 won: nutty with no acidity

Iced americano — ₩6,500. Clean-tasting, without strong acidity. It was a nutty-flavored americano, good for everyday drinking. Rather than a heavy body, it leaned more toward refreshing — a coffee near Gangnam Station that felt light.

## Hojicha choux milk tea, 8,500 won: start with the baby choux

Hojicha choux milk tea — ₩8,500. This drink has thick hojicha foam layered on top of milk tea.

![Hojicha choux milk tea topped with hojicha foam](https://img.superchart.com/images/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea-19-1iiq8-900.webp)

![Baby choux on top of the hojicha choux milk tea](https://img.superchart.com/images/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea-20-1pfdz-900.webp)

It's a coffee topped with a baby choux, which I recommend eating first. Since it's an iced baby choux, it had a crisp, crackly texture. It was coated in thick hojicha foam, which gave it its own character.

![Close-up of the baby choux and hojicha foam](https://img.superchart.com/images/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea/something-about-coffee-terrace-hojicha-milk-tea-21-uhkc7-900.webp)

On top was a very thick foam made from hojicha tea. It had a pleasantly bitter, nice hojicha aroma. Honestly, the milk tea underneath was even tastier. The hojicha had strong sweetness and aroma, while the milk tea underneath was gentle in both sweetness and fragrance. I preferred the gentle version over the strong one.

## Plain scone, 4,500 won: on the light, plain side

Plain scone — ₩4,500. A light, mild scone. These days a lot of scones have an intense buttery flavor, but this café's scone near Sinnonhyeon Station was light and clean. If you want that strong buttery flavor, this won't be for you, but if you want a clean-tasting dessert, I'd recommend it.

As soon as the weather cooled off, I made the most of the outdoor terrace seats at this café near Sinnonhyeon Station. Seasonal fig cake and a pleasant autumn breeze — it doesn't get better than that.
