The owner kindly explained which cuts made up the three types of assorted sashimi. Having it as a mixed platter made it more fun than just eating one kind~ Each piece of sashimi was sliced nice and thick, and you could really feel the chewy texture the more you chewed. Abalone, octopus, sea cucumber, sea squirt, and clam were all there, so it was fun picking through them one by one — and I was especially happy to see sea squirt and sea cucumber, since I love both! We ordered the sushi rice separately. It started as just something to try for fun, but once we actually ate it, it turned out to be a pretty convincing sushi! Good stuff Partway through, the owner also brought out kim-maki (seaweed roll) separately, and it seemed like a little something extra from the owner, which made me even happier. Putting a piece of sashimi inside with a bit of vinegared gochujang was another nice treat. The owner carefully checked in on us throughout the meal and even threw in these little extras, so I got a real sense of how kind they were. These small touches tend to stick with you~~^^ With a spread of seafood in front of you, a cold shot of soju is a must, right? The flow from sashimi to seafood to egg roe rice to champon ramyeon was enough for a full meal on its own, and it also worked well as a slow dinner with a drink or two~ Being able to eat several menu items within one set without ordering anything extra is the biggest perk of Simdo Hoetjip's B set! Visiting Simdo Hoetjip in Jegi-dong with a friend felt less like a fancy, pricey sashimi restaurant and more like a neighborhood spot you can casually drop into for sashimi and a variety of seafood. The B set (small) I ate for ₩75,000 came with three types of assorted sashimi, five types of seafood, egg roe rice, and champon ramyeon — all in one menu item, which made it great for enjoying a variety of things in one go!
