To get away from my usually busy days, I make weekends a time for delicious moments entirely for myself.

Today, I wanted to enjoy high-quality Japanese food in comfort, so I visited Gapposo, a well-known sushi specialist near Gasan Digital Complex.

You can really feel the expertise of a former executive chef from a five-star hotel here. On weekends, there is a special solo course, omakase, and a weekend menu for two, so it is a lovely place to enjoy at an unhurried pace alone or as a couple.

![The atmosphere during a weekend visit to Gapposo](https://img.superchart.com/images/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo-04-1xh2m-900.webp)

The area around Gasan Digital Complex, with so many office workers, is bustling with company dinners and business meetings on weekdays. But on Saturday, it had such a peaceful atmosphere—great for coming alone, with a partner, or as a family and focusing on the delicious food.

## Gapposo location and how to get there

It is fairly close to my neighborhood, so I strolled there for some exercise. I took the bus on the way back, and the Digital 3 Complex, ROHM Korea bus stop was nearby.

Walking there, I found the Hyundai Terratower Gasan DK building and entered through the main entrance. I went straight in through the building entrance, passed the elevators, and turned left to find an entrance. It seemed a little modest, but I later learned that this was the entrance inside the building.

There is a separate exterior entrance. If you are taking public transit, come out of Exit 8 or 9 at Gasan Digital Complex Station and look behind the SK V1 Center across the street to find the restaurant. Google Maps showed the wrong exit number, but after going myself, I found Naver Map was right. It is Unit 106 on the first floor of Hyundai Terratower Gasan DK.

## A chef with five-star hotel Japanese dining experience

What made this place feel even more special was the chef's exceptional background. Chef Song Ji-hoon runs Gapposo himself after working at numerous five-star hotel Japanese restaurants, including as executive chef at Kioku & Akira Back at Four Seasons Seoul, Timber House at Park Hyatt Seoul, and The Ritz-Carlton.

It is famous for having a long wait even on ordinary days, and the restaurant had detailed waiting instructions posted as well.

Especially at Monday lunch, the sushi and udon set is an incredibly generous ₩11,000! For reference, that was also the price of one glass of Asahi draft beer I had that day. Getting sushi and udon as a set for the price of a beer is seriously amazing value.

## What is included in the weekend solo omakase

Here is Gapposo's menu and its varied offerings, including omakase. The dishes are built around fresh seasonal seafood caught off the three sides of the Korean Peninsula and presented with traditional Japanese cooking techniques.

There was a separate weekend menu, and I ordered the Solo Omakase 39 course this time. Although it is called a weekend menu, the restaurant is closed on Sunday, so it is really Saturday-only.

It began with silky chicken porridge, followed by aged sashimi. Visiting alone on a weekend when office workers were not at work and leisurely enjoying a solo course was such a small but certain happiness. I am actually not usually good with oily fish, but even the mackerel sashimi here had no fishiness at all—just an explosion of savory flavor.

Next came tuna kobachi with truffle sauce. Kobachi is generally a small appetizer served before a meal to whet your appetite. The tuna and crackers went surprisingly well together, making for such a tasty little bite! I would love to try making it at home later as a wine or beer snack.

Then a bowl that looked like basalt arrived. It really made me curious about what was inside. Ta-da! When I opened it, there was yakimono (Japanese grilled dish) inside.

![Yakimono in a special bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo-17-1tbbe-900.webp)

They say you eat delicious food with your eyes first, right? The special bowl made me happy too. It was truly satisfying for all five senses.

The next course was three pieces of agemono (Japanese fried dishes), and they were so delicious—freshly fried and wonderfully crisp.

![Three pieces of freshly fried agemono](https://img.superchart.com/images/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo-18-mwjzg-900.webp)

This was absolutely made for beer, so I could not help ordering a cold glass at this point. In fact, I had deliberately saved some of the sashimi from earlier so I could have it with beer later.

Wow, but what am I supposed to do when even the Asahi draft beer is this good?! It was clearly well maintained, with a wonderful balance of flavor, temperature, and foam.

Sushi and udon came next, and Gapposo's solo omakase is truly appealing when you are dining alone because you get to sample so many different courses so thoroughly. I was simply grateful to be able to taste all of this for ₩39,000.

The sushi, made with such care by the chef, had excellent aging in the fish and a wonderful harmony with the shari (seasoned sushi rice). Every piece made me gasp as I put it in my mouth. My eyes would naturally drift shut as I kept savoring it.

I ordered another Asahi at just the right moment and paired it with the sushi. The freshly poured draft beer's soft foam and refreshing finish neatly balanced the warm, nutty flavors of the sushi—the combination was truly perfect.

In the end, it was so delicious that I ended up finishing two beers by myself, starting from brunch.

![The angel ring in a draft beer glass](https://img.superchart.com/images/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo/gasan-sushi-solo-omakase-gapposo-24-fai07-900.webp)

Ahh! Even the angel ring was a work of art! I happily wrapped up this Gasan Digital Complex sushi feast with plump, chewy noodles and hot udon broth.

Because it was the weekend, the restaurant was quiet and relaxed, and I could slowly savor each piece and enjoy a meal completely my own. It did not feel like simply filling my stomach; through the thoughtfully prepared food, I felt as though I had been given a wonderful memory. Personally, my intention to revisit is over 200%! If you want to experience truly proper sushi around Gasan Digital Complex, I hope you will try Chef Song Ji-hoon's special omakase course at Gapposo with a cold beer on the side.
