The entrance was curtained off with a tent-like fabric, and with ocean-sound BGM playing, the covered staircase felt mysterious! As it gets a bit darker, the mood shifts little by little. Tea bags were on display, and I thought it'd be a great spot for foreign visitors to buy tea. This is the Bomulgyeol tea and the hojicha coffee. Bomulgyeol tea (meaning 'spring waves') is a green tea made from tender young leaves that capture the first energy of spring, with a soft, fresh fragrance! It wasn't a bland tea that's all scent and no flavor — it actually tasted a little sweet, just like it smelled! You can smell each tea before choosing, so pick whichever scent you like best! So unique, right? Gamtae, of all things!!! An East-meets-West harmony of Korean gamtae and Western financier, haha. Inside the monaka wafer shell is a meeting of red bean paste, French gourmet butter, nuts, and chewy rice cake. It was packed with so much red bean, which I loved! And it really captured that distinctive dense, chewy texture monaka is known for! I kept thinking foreign visitors would love this, haha. My friend and I debated whether this really counted as geongongamli (the four trigrams pattern) — looked at it lengthwise and it seemed different again, haha. ## Is Suwolgyeonghwa worth a visit? Final verdict The atmosphere is really great. Having the ocean right in view was wonderful too. It really captured that feeling of quietly sipping tea in a hanok café! It's a nicely calm café, so I came away well rested.
