I'm back up in Seoul again for a wedding... honestly I feel like I've been coming up to Seoul so often lately haha. This time I also did a Han River hoe-picnic (raw fish picnic) and stopped by Yongsan and Itaewon, so I'm planning to post about each one!!

The friend's place I stayed at in Seoul was near Cheonho Station, so every time I go there, hunting down a good hangover-cure spot becomes a whole mission haha. But this Cheonho Station gukbap place I visited, Boseung Hoegwan, even had the spicy gukbap I love, so it's shaping up to be a Cheonho spot I'll keep coming back to. Let me introduce Boseung Hoegwan right away.

Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch is a 24-hour gukbap restaurant on the 1st floor at 654 Olympic-ro, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. It's perfect whether you're going for a hangover cure or for day drinking or night drinking, whenever you show up.

Something I found out while writing this post! Turns out Boseung Hoegwan has branches all over Seoul?! Hahaha. Seems like it's a well-known gukbap chain here in Seoul. As a Busan native with some pride in pork gukbap, I walked in half-doubtful, half-curious!

Since a lot of people eat gukbap alone, I liked that they had tables for solo diners. I visited around 11am on a weekday and was surprised at how many customers there already were! It really gave off that genuine hit-spot vibe haha.

## Boseung Hoegwan menu, from gukbap to hangover ramyeon and drinking dishes

This Cheonho Station gukbap restaurant has pork jowl gukbap, and beyond my favorite intestine gukbap, there was also pork bone hangover soup and hangover ramyeon that both looked like they'd hit the spot for a hangover. There's even seasonal naengmyeon (cold noodles), so it's a Cheonho-dong restaurant that could work for anyone.

They also had drinking-menu items that looked great for an evening drink. The prices were so reasonable too — made me wonder if such a good-value place could really exist in Seoul haha.

The basic side dishes were chives, kimchi, and diced radish kimchi! At Busan pork gukbap places, chili peppers, garlic, and onion are basically non-negotiable, and here at Boseung Hoegwan they brought them out when we asked. Can't have gukbap without them...

## How spicy is the spicy intestine gukbap?

Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch's spice levels go from mild to spicy, and above that, hell-spicy. I went with the spicy intestine gukbap! And our group ordered pork jowl gukbap and boiled pork gukbap too, since everyone's tastes were all over the place haha.

There's a level above spicy called hell-spicy, and honestly even the regular spicy level was plenty spicy for me haha. I actually like spicy food, but Boseung Hoegwan's gukbap was spicier than I expected.

If you're weak with spice, I'd recommend the mild version, haha. I ordered the intestine gukbap and it came packed with chewy intestine pieces. The base broth itself was seasoned so well that you don't even need to add salted shrimp on top.

### How to order Boseung Hoegwan gukbap without perilla seeds

You can choose the chili paste and perilla seeds at the time of ordering, and we had them leave the perilla out of everything. Since it apparently goes into every gukbap by default, watch out if you're not a perilla fan! The pork jowl was also tender and delicious.

## Does Boseung Hoegwan pass for a Busan pork gukbap palate?

Busan means pork gukbap! So our standards for gukbap run pretty high. Even tasting it with a critical eye, there wasn't a hint of off smell, and it was good enough to be recognized as a solid gukbap spot near Cheonho Station. Being open 24 hours, I get why it's always this busy no matter when you show up.

These days it's genuinely hard to find a 24-hour restaurant, let alone one with a solid menu that covers both hangover cures and drinking snacks. This Cheonho Station restaurant, Boseung Hoegwan, felt like the kind of place that could easily become a well-known gukbap spot in Seoul. We went for a hangover, but honestly, that broth practically calls for a drink haha.
