I talked about it for weeks, then finally decided to go. Maybe that is why it feels subtly upscale inside. They have a huge selection of alcohol, and I considered ordering some, but I had work the next day, so I resisted. They said the egg noodles would be a half portion, but it was almost a full serving. The chili shrimp was sweet and tangy, so having some in between changed up the flavors in my mouth and made the meal even more fun. The egg noodles went surprisingly well with the duck. One bite of duck wrap, then a big chopstickful of egg noodles—it felt like eating meat and rice... We debated getting a whole or half duck, so I asked the staff member, who said two people normally order half a duck! We were told it would take 20–30 minutes, but it felt like it came out sooner. At first I did not know and wrapped it like this, then it would not come off properly, so I had to start again lol. We are not vegetable people, so we did not even look at the cucumber. But you absolutely, absolutely have to put in the shredded scallions!!!! Just memorize that. Even if you hate them, you have to wrap them in. My husband tried it skeptically at first, then kept nodding along, saying I was right. The pancakes and duck go so well together, like they were always one dish. Meanwhile, the shredded scallions provide the texture, so the more scallions, the better; use a moderate amount of black bean sauce. It is easy to eat if you coat the scallions with sauce before adding them. You do not taste any of the scallion’s distinctive sharpness—it feels like a completely different food. One refill was exactly the right amount. The staff member saw our table and, with flawless intuition, brought us only shredded scallions lol. A confirmed great restaurant, as expected bb. ## My husband’s first Peking duck was a success too I had been talking about Peking duck for weeks, so my expectations were high, but it was a satisfying dinner that tasted exactly like a childhood memory. I was proud that my husband’s first Peking duck experience seemed to end successfully too.
