After running around to our hearts' content, it was suddenly almost dinner time. But the roads were completely jammed, and I didn't think Taebaek could hold out with how hungry he was all the way home. I hadn't packed a separate dinner for him, so I needed to find somewhere nearby where he could eat too. He usually loves galbitang (Korean beef short rib soup), so naturally I searched for a galbitang place. It was fun to look at while we waited, and it made me expect the galbitang to be good too—someone who has been in food service for this long must know their galbitang! ## Ordering galbitang with table-side smart ordering You order through the smart-order kiosk at each table. They also had braised beef short ribs in soy sauce and spicy versions. My husband ordered the meat-loaded arongsatae beef soup, and I ordered the royal beef short rib soup. There were also complimentary gangjeong (sweet crunchy snack) and misutgaru (multigrain powder drink), which were enough to take care of a hungry stomach for the moment. Since you need to pick up the bone and pull the meat off, it was easier for us to remove the meat ahead of time for a child. The meat pulled apart nicely and tenderly, probably from being simmered for a long time. The broth was rich but not overpowering, so it went down easily. After carefully pulling off even the meat stuck to the bones, we were able to finish almost all of both bowls. It was a good place to stop when you've spent time around Achasan Station or Seoul Children's Grand Park with a child and need to sort out dinner too.
