Today I'm introducing an Euljiro tteokbokki spot near my office that I finally revisited after way too long — Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch.

When was the last time I had tteokbokki that wasn't Yeoptteok 🧐 Anyway, it had genuinely been forever since I visited Hyeonseoni-ne, a spot I loved but somehow forgot about.

I went around 7pm on a weekday and it was fully packed, so there was a short wait.

Hyeonseoni-ne serves both instant-style tteokbokki and regular tteokbokki. I feel like I've had the instant version before… but in my memory, I actually preferred the plain tteokbokki.

No question about what to order at this Euljiro tteokbokki spot — the Hyeonseoni-ne Combo, haha, ₩25,000. It comes with tteokbokki, sundae (Korean blood sausage), fried snacks, fish cake, and gimbap (seaweed rice roll), and you can choose the spice level of the tteokbokki. (They'd run out of gimbap that day, so I got tuna rice balls instead.) Carb, carb, carb, carb, carb bomb 🍚

### How spicy is the spicy tteokbokki at Hyeonseoni-ne?

The spicy sauce didn't look that hot, but it was properly spicy — nothing like its appearance haha. Genuinely sweat-inducing spicy!!! But it's not mindlessly hot, it's a delicious kind of spicy, so my hand kept going back for more. My mouth is watering just writing this 🤤

The fried snacks include kimmari (seaweed-wrapped noodle rolls), sweet potato, squid, vegetable fritters, and flat mandu (dumplings). Savory and crispy — hard to stop eating.

The sundae comes mixed with glutinous sundae and organ meat — plenty of liver, which I love. Maybe I was a nine-tailed fox in a past life haha.

### Tuna rice balls when the gimbap sells out

Since the gimbap in the Hyeonseoni-ne combo had sold out, I got tuna rice balls instead 🍙 There's no way these could be bad 😆 A bite of spicy tteokbokki, then a bite of tuna rice ball — great pairing.

## Verdict on Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch

A one-line verdict on this Euljiro tteokbokki spot I'd somehow forgotten about all this time.

- The spicy version is hotter than Yeoptteok, so spice-shy eaters should go mild
- Personally, I like the plain tteokbokki better than the instant-style one
- They also sell alcohol, so it's great for a drink or two
- There's a line even in the evening, but the turnover is fast so it's no big deal

Why did I forget about this place for so long ㅠㅠㅠ I need to come back regularly.
