Today I'm sharing a delicious snack I tried in Gyeongju's Hwangnidang-gil! I ended up there on short notice, and wandering around I noticed a bunch of new shops had opened up. Among them, Tareudang really caught my eye.

## Finding Tareudang on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju

The window had cute drawings with the menu items written out one by one, and up close I could see it wasn't just mochi — they had a variety of desserts. You know that feeling when you pass a place like this and just want to step inside? 😊 We ended up stopping and spending a long time deciding what to get.

## Tareudang mochi menu and prices, plus the 4-or-more discount

Tareudang's mochi are: dried persimmon yogurt ₩6,500, raw chocolate ₩6,000, peach yogurt ₩7,000, mango yogurt ₩7,500, and fig yogurt, pineapple, and gold kiwi at ₩5,500 each. A sign said buying 4 or more mochi gets you ₩500 off per piece.

One persimmon mochi, one chocolate mochi! We packed both to go!! I visited before 5pm on a weekday and every other flavor was already sold out (ran out of ingredients, sigh) — I didn't even get time to agonize over what to eat.😂

It had softened a little, and cutting it with scissors didn't do the look any favors! 😓

Let's take a bite! It's a '(low-sugar) dried persimmon yogurt mochi' — the persimmon is wrapped in yogurt, topped with mochi, and on the first bite... the persimmon's distinct sweetness and chewiness come through first, then the yogurt's tang, followed by the mochi's chewiness! (I'm not really a fan of dried persimmon, but this was a 'yes' for me 😁😁) If you like dried persimmon, this combination is worth trying at least once.

## How sweet is the raw chocolate mochi at Tareudang?

This time I brought out a knife. Nice clean cross-section, right? Haha. Look how packed the inside is — chewy mochi on the outside, and inside, a deep chocolate color filling it up! Look closely and you'll notice little white crunchy bits studded throughout, so it's a bit different from plain chocolate. They did call it 'raw chocolate mochi'... and it's sweet, sweet, sweet, haha. One bite gives you chewy mochi plus rich chocolate sweetness, and the combination works better than I expected. (Though for me it was the kind of sweetness that made me crave an Americano...😃😃) If you love chocolate, this is a flavor you'll probably really like.

## Is Tareudang worth a stop on Hwangnidang-gil? Final verdict

This time I tried two — 🍫 chocolate mochi and 🤎 persimmon mochi — and each had its own charm, so I was glad I tried both together. If you're looking for something a little different from the usual Hwangnidang-gil desserts, give Tareudang a try!
