## In short

Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga Ruwon City Branch is a Korean restaurant in Seohae, Incheon. I tried its spicy siraegi braised pollock at the standard heat level with stone-pot rice, and loved the sweet-savory sauce and tender greens. Verdict: a seriously satisfying spicy meal that I would gladly have again.

## Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga, newly opened in Ruwon City

I visited Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga, which newly opened in Ruwon City on September 4. I was curious because it was new, and I’d been craving spicy food lately, so I went for braised pollock. To give you the conclusion first, it was seriously delicious 🤤 It felt like I’d finally found one of those meals that leaves you thinking, “That was a great meal,” for the first time in a while, so I was very satisfied.

Maybe because it had just opened, the interior was clean and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. The restaurant was also very large. It would be great for a family meal, and I think it would work well for an important meeting between families, too.

## Spicy siraegi braised pollock at the standard heat level

Looking over the menu, we ordered the spicy siraegi braised pollock without hesitation. We chose the standard spice level, which is said to be hotter than Shin Ramyun! Personally, even the standard level was plenty spicy and just right for me 😛

The self-service bar was incredibly clean, too. All the basic side dishes were there.

Every single basic side dish was delicious!! They were nicely seasoned and really tasty.

Ta-da!!!!! It looked mouthwatering from the very first glance. It wasn’t just aggressively hot—the sauce itself was delicious, the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching back in.

At first I thought, “This doesn’t seem that spicy,” but as I ate, a subtle heat built up, making it perfect with rice. I picked the pollock meat off the bones, placed it over rice, and added a little sauce... Ah, this was a real rice thief.

## Tender siraegi and a sauce that keeps you coming back

The siraegi (dried radish greens) were so tender. They weren’t tough at all, which made them such a pleasure to eat. They were delicious with the pollock, and even delicious on their own over rice. Personally, when I eat braised pollock, I tend to prefer the supporting ingredients—like the sauce, radish, and siraegi—more than the fish itself, and I loved this place because the siraegi was so good.

And sauce is everything in braised pollock, of course, and this sauce was really delicious. It was slightly sweet, spicy, and full of umami, so it was great when I coated the pollock generously in it. Above all, I loved the siraegi.

## A filling finish with stone-pot rice and scorched rice

And the stone-pot rice!! I had it alongside the braised pollock, and it was so good, too. Plain white rice is delicious with a spicy braise like this, of course, but having stone-pot rice made it feel much more like a proper meal. I scooped out the rice, poured water into the stone pot, and made nurungji (scorched rice) too. Finishing warmly with the nurungji was so filling. The braised-pollock sauce was so good that I kept eating rice; at first I thought, “This should be enough,” but before I knew it, I’d eaten quite a lot of it, haha. Such a delicious meal!

Sometimes I go to a newly opened restaurant with high expectations, only to come away thinking it was just okay, but I will definitely visit this one again. The spicy siraegi braised pollock sauce was exactly my taste. It had the right amount of heat and went wonderfully with rice, while the pollock and siraegi together were such a great combination.

More than anything, the sauce was so good that I kept reaching for it with my chopsticks. It was the kind of flavor where you keep saying, “This is delicious,” and then realize you’ve been continuously eating rice, lol.

Please wrap siraegi + chili pepper + kodari (semi-dried pollock) in seaweed and eat it.. 🫢🥹 If you’re looking for a newly opened Korean restaurant in Ruwon City or craving spicy braised pollock, this is worth a visit. I especially recommend the spicy siraegi braised pollock if you love braised pollock! It only opened on September 4, so it is still a fresh new restaurant, but I enjoyed my very first visit quite a lot. Maybe because the meal was so good, I kept thinking about it after getting home. They also sell meal kits, so keep that in mind!! Next time I’m curious about the other dishes, but I think I’ll still order the spicy siraegi braised pollock again. 😂
