## In short

Bomseol Main Branch is a Korean set-meal restaurant in Osan, Gyeonggi, near the Dongtan and Byeongjeom borders. I chose the 18,000-won Bomseol Table with braised pollock, spicy stir-fried pork, self-serve bibimbap, and refillable japchae. Verdict: so many side dishes, yet I still finish every last spoonful of scorched rice.

## A home-style Korean set meal near the Dongtan–Osan border

When I want a casual Korean set meal in Dongtan, Bomseol is the place that naturally comes to mind. It is a Korean set-meal specialist with easy access right on the border of Dongtan, Osan, and Byeongjeom. I first visited a few months ago and loved it so much that I am already on my umpteenth visit! It is the kind of irresistibly home-style place where everyone enjoys their meal, no matter who I bring, so friend and family gatherings naturally end up happening here too.

Bomseol has a large parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so parking is easy. We visited on a rainy day, parked, and ran straight inside!

There is a private banquet hall on the second floor, so you could reserve the space for an event. It would be great for group gatherings, company dinners, first-birthday parties, or other special occasions.

The first floor is very spacious too, but when I went at weekday lunchtime, it was almost full. There were especially lots of diners in their 50s and 60s, which made me think it is a place older guests really enjoy.

## The Bomseol Table and self-serve bibimbap station

You order and pay on a tablet. There are various set meals starting with the basic table, and you can also try sides by adding extra dishes. I debated between the Mountain Pile Bulgogi and the Bomseol Table, then picked the Bomseol Table because it comes with spicy stir-fried pork and braised pollock. Since I already know how good it is, I somehow keep ordering only that one, haha.

![Bomseol self-serve bibimbap station](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-kodari-jjim-bomsul/dongtan-kodari-jjim-bomsul-09-1jnnr-966.webp)

The self-serve bar has a bibimbap (mixed rice) station, and that is another reason I keep returning to Bomseol. Add assorted namul (seasoned vegetables), barley rice, gochujang (red chili paste), and sesame oil, and you have the most delicious bibimbap ever.

But if you eat too much because it is so good, you will not be able to finish your meal, so manage your portions carefully. I got full from this and ended up handing half my pot-cooked rice to my friend.

The Bomseol Table fills the whole table. Braised pollock and spicy stir-fried pork are the mains, with a generous spread of other dishes alongside them. The side dishes are refillable too, so you can have more without hesitation.

There are eight kinds of banchan (Korean side dishes), and honestly, they are tasty enough to finish a whole bowl of rice even without the mains. I wish the kitchen aunties here could come to my house and make my side dishes 😊

Another reason I come to Bomseol is this japchae (stir-fried glass noodles). I love japchae so much that a place where I can eat it without limit automatically gets high marks from me. This time too, I refilled it and ate it twice.

## How to enjoy braised pollock all the way to scorched rice

The rice comes out perfectly fluffy too, but do not forget: as soon as it arrives, scoop out the rice and pour in water to make nurungji (scorched rice).

The braised pollock is generously meaty, and above all, the sauce here is so good that mixing rice into it is pure bliss. I wrapped the spicy stir-fried pork neatly in lettuce leaves and munched away. But there are seriously so many side dishes that you get so full while eating that you end up leaving some behind 😂

Still, the unwritten rule is to finish every last bit of the scorched rice at the end. Its toasty flavor is just too good.

They also sell barley puff snacks, sesame oil, and perilla oil by the entrance, so they would make nice gifts or snacks, right? There is a separate dessert corner too, with puffed corn, sujeonggwa (cinnamon ginger punch), and coffee, so you can wrap up dessert in one go. The parking-registration desk is right beside it, so if you drove, do not forget to register your parking~

Bomseol is an easy, no-pressure choice when you want a Korean set meal in Dongtan or Osan. Now that autumn is here and my appetite is starting to return, if you want to enjoy a generous, delicious Korean meal, make sure to visit at least once!
