The weather's gotten colder and I started craving something hot and spicy, so I headed to Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch!

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a soup restaurant near Jamsil Station that's great for a hearty meal, serving everything from sundae gukbap (blood sausage soup) and suyuk gukbap (boiled pork soup) to hangjeong suyuk gukbap (boiled pork jowl soup), plus samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), naengmyeon (cold noodles), and assorted boiled meat platters. I'd eaten here before and remembered it fondly, so I came back — and once again left full and satisfied.

## Where is Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, and when is it open?

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is at 101 Oegeum-ro, 1F, Songpa-gu, Seoul, open 24 hours with free parking available. It's right on a main road near Jamsil Station, so it's easy to find and the storefront stands out.

## Inside Boseung Hoegwan: a wide hall for solo diners and groups

The interior of Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is bigger and more comfortable than expected :)

They're running a Naver receipt review event right now — grab a free drink haha!

## What we ordered at Boseung Hoegwan and the banchan that came with it

Here's what we ordered this time.

- Bone soup ₩12,000 × 2
- Seasoned water mandu ₩4,000

On a cold day, nothing beats bone soup haha. After ordering, the side dishes came out first.

![Standard kimchi side dish served with the soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-10-1snww-900.webp)

Two kinds of kimchi came as standard, along with a soy sauce dip for the meat. The kimchi had a clean flavor that paired perfectly with the soup — a bite here and there really refreshed the palate!

## Pork bone soup, 12,000 won: how were the meat and broth?

The main dish, bone soup, arrives!

![Bone soup served generously in a stone pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-11-1blou-900.webp)
*Bone soup*

It comes out generously piled in a stone pot — looks hearty just from the visual, right?

With bone soup especially, places that don't handle the meat well can end up with tough, stiff meat with a gamey smell — but at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, the meat was really tender.

![Bone soup meat picked apart with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-13-bu54d-900.webp)

The meat clinging to the bone was so soft it fell off gently with chopsticks, easy to eat and with no trace of gamey smell.

![A moist piece of bone soup meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-15-wbror-900.webp)

The lean meat wasn't dry — moist and mild, tasty dipped in soy sauce, and even more appealing eaten with the broth. And of course, the broth is what really matters for bone soup!

![Spicy, rich bone soup broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-16-10pe2-900.webp)

![A spoonful of bone soup broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-17-sa89i-900.webp)

The broth was rich, spicy, and savory all at once. From the first spoonful, the hot broth felt like it hit the spot, especially on a cold day. Plenty of siraegi (dried radish greens) and perilla seeds gave it a deep, nutty flavor too.

![Bone soup loaded with dried radish greens and perilla seeds](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-18-1oz9b-m-900.webp)

![Savory broth thick with perilla seeds](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings/bosung-banghwa-bone-haejangguk-dumplings-19-1iyzp-900.webp)

The nutty, smooth taste of the perilla seeds made the broth even richer and more savory! I'm a perilla person myself, so I loved how generous they were with it haha. If you're not a fan, apparently you can ask them to leave it out.

Mixing a little rice into the broth, topping it with a piece of meat and some kimchi, made for a really satisfying bite. The broth's spicy, savory depth was perfect for the chillier weather lately. The meat was generous too, so it never felt like just eating broth — filling all the way to the last spoonful.

## Is the 4,000 won seasoned water mandu worth adding?

And unexpectedly, the seasoned water mandu (dumplings) exceeded expectations! I ordered it as a light side while eating the bone soup, but it turned out surprisingly delicious ☺️haha. It's mini water dumplings topped with a light soy-based sauce with scallions.

*Boseung's seasoned water mandu*

They're small, bite-sized dumplings, so it's easy to keep popping them one after another. The wrapper was soft and moist, the filling savory, and the delicious soy sauce topping added even more umami.

The sauce wasn't too salty or sharp, which made it even more moreish haha. If the bone soup is spicy and rich, the seasoned mandu has a sweet-salty umami of its own from the soy sauce, and switching back and forth between the two worked really well together.

*Seasoned water mandu*

Eating one dumpling then taking a spoonful of the bone soup broth worked great too — a nice side dish overall. I ordered it lightly as a side, but it turned out more satisfying than expected.
