Hi, this is Carol. I recently found a pocha near Gaebong Station with great value and great food, so I went to check it out! It's called Apgujeong Sinpocha, on the 2nd floor of the building with the red eomuk sign, straight out of Exit 1 of Gaebong Station. Apgujeong Sinpocha is a Gaebong go-to run by an owner with 13 years in the restaurant business.

## Order two dishes: soju 3,000 won, beer 4,000 won

✔️What makes this place great — besides the wide drink selection — is that if you order just two dishes, soju drops to ₩3,000 and beer to ₩4,000, cheaper than most bars. Highly recommended if you want good food and plenty to drink, at this Gaebong bar, Apgujeong Sinpocha.

### What the window seats at Apgujeong Sinpocha are like

It wasn't too crowded — a good spot to catch up with friends or a partner in the neighborhood over drinks. The weather's cooling down but it's still a bit warm, so I sat by the window, and with the window open the breeze drifted in and the mood went up! Perfect for a cold beer, especially in summer^^

![Crispy ppeongtwigi served as a complimentary snack](https://img.superchart.com/images/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang-05-wyuye-740.webp)

The complimentary snack is ppeongtwigi (puffed rice crackers) — not soggy, but crispy, so I ate all of it while waiting for the food 🤭

Dish prices run from the ₩10,000s to ₩20,000s, decent value — even light-on-cash college students could enjoy this place~ The drink lineup was also great, with soju, beer, highballs, and Ilpum Jinro to choose from 😀

▶️What we ordered: ✔️fire-grilled cheese dakbal ✔️spicy jjamppong tang ✔️rice ball ✔️Chum Churum ✔️Sprite

## Spicy jjamppong tang comes with jjamppong noodles included

Apgujeong Sinpocha's spicy jjamppong tang is loaded with mussels, squid, pork belly, bean sprouts, and jjamppong noodles — a hearty dish. I was going to add noodles as an extra, but it was great that they came included by default^^

The jjamppong was full of that smoky wok-fire flavor, and even though we came for a light dinner-and-drinks stop, it was filling enough to be a full meal. A shot of soju with the spicy jjamppong tang — ahh, all the fatigue melted away 😌

The broth of the spicy jjamppong tang was so rich that if I hadn't been full already, I would've added a bowl of rice~

![Ingredients lifted out of the spicy jjamppong tang](https://img.superchart.com/images/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang-11-3zysa-740.webp)

## Fire-grilled cheese buldak: choose your spice level

We also ordered another Gaebong bar favorite: fire-grilled cheese dakbal. You can pick the spice level, so I went with level 2 (fire chicken spicy), and it was delicious and hot 😆

![Fire-grilled cheese dakbal piled high with cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang-13-18zui-740.webp)

The fire-grilled cheese dakbal comes with a generous layer of cheese on top, which tones down the spice a bit. It has a spicy dakgalbi (grilled chicken) vibe — easy for anyone to enjoy, and I get why it's the signature dish.

I almost ordered ice + lemon + tonic water, but the owner brought ice separately anyway, so I could drink my Sprite and beer nice and cold, whisky-style 🥰

### The 3,000-won rice ball added to tame the heat

The fire-grilled cheese dakbal was spicier than I expected, so we added a rice ball for +₩3,000 (so much for my 'I can handle spicy' pride 😂)

![A plate of the added rice ball](https://img.superchart.com/images/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang-15-1f8il-740.webp)

![Rice ball topped with seaweed flakes and mayonnaise](https://img.superchart.com/images/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang/gaebong-station-pocha-spicy-jjamppong-tang-16-100bn-740.webp)

It came topped with pickled radish, dried seaweed flakes, and plenty of mayo — great for cooling the heat and filling us up. Ordered it because it was spicy, then ended up dipping it into the dakbal sauce because it was so tasty 😁

## Is Apgujeong Sinpocha worth a return visit for drinks in Gaebong?

We cleared two dishes and two bottles of soju, so yes, I'd come back. I usually stick to Oryu-dong for neighborhood drinking since it's closer to home, but it had been a while since I visited the Gaebong side — the variety and quality of the dishes plus the value made it satisfying. Right by Gaebong Station Exit 1, so if you live around Guro and are looking for a bar for a drink after work, I'd recommend Apgujeong Sinpocha! 🙂
