Sipping a drink while looking out at the sea felt like pure healing, so I really wanted to share it. You can see the distinct blue of the East Sea right up close, and the place is such a massive bakery café that there's zero feeling of being cramped. The first thing I ordered at Baegya Coffee was the 7-grain misugaru (roasted grain powder) latte, and I could tell how rich it was from the very first sip. It's made with 100% top-grade domestic grains, according to the sign, and you could really taste that classic nutty grain flavor from careful grinding. It wasn't overly sweet like some misugaru drinks can be, so it went down very smoothly, and I even felt satisfyingly full afterward. At the very bottom is a nutty corn base, then a strong espresso shot, and on top a soft, sweet cream. I drank it straight from the cup without mixing it with a straw, and the corn's signature nuttiness and sweetness blended with the coffee's bitterness better than I expected. I think you really have to drink it without a straw to appreciate what it's about. It's a traditional herbal tea said to use 100% top-grade jujubes from Gyeongsan, and as soon as I took the cup, a deep, sweet jujube scent filled the air and lifted my mood instantly. Taking a sip, it tasted like pure concentrated jujube extract without a drop of water mixed in, which made me appreciate the care that went into it.
