## Where is Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Jeju Iho Tewoo Branch, and is there parking?

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang (화덕으로간고등어반상, "the mackerel set that went into the wood-fire oven") Jeju Iho Tewoo Branch is a Korean grilled-fish specialty restaurant on the 1st floor of 106 Tewoohaean-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju. The closest beach to Jeju Airport is Iho Tewoo Beach.

We'd stopped by Dongmun Market and wanted to catch the sunset, so we headed to Iho Tewoo Beach. We were craving Korean food, so we dropped into Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang, a Korean restaurant known as one of the best spots near Jeju Airport.

There's parking space right in front. There's actually quite a lot of parking, but because it was so crowded we couldn't find a spot at first, ugh. We circled around for a bit and finally scored a space!

At Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Jeju Iho Tewoo Branch, you go in through the door below and head up to the 2nd floor.

Before going in, I checked what set meals were on offer. As you may know, Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang isn't unique to Jeju — I've been to other branches too, and they were always satisfying, so I trusted this Jeju Iho Tewoo branch as well. They grill the fish in a wood-fired oven over 500 degrees, and maybe that's why even I, who don't usually eat grilled fish much, find myself thinking of this place from time to time.

## Sunset ocean-view seats facing Iho Tewoo Beach

This branch of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang had a different self-serve bar setup — this was the first location I'd seen where you can fry your own eggs!

Best of all, we got an unexpected front-row view of Iho Tewoo Beach and the sunset ocean view. Looking the other way, you can see Hallasan Mountain, so this is genuinely a great-value view spot.

This Jeju branch of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang felt like a great place to bring parents.

Most tables seat 4 to 6 people, with a self-serve bar in the middle.

## What's at the self-serve bar: extra side dishes, sweet potato fritters and fried eggs

The self-serve bar at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Jeju Iho Tewoo Branch had extra side dishes beyond what came with the set, so you should definitely check it out when you visit. Sweet potato fritters and sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) too, nice. The one downside — this place is usually known for its tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), but they seemed to have run out when I visited (bummer).

But... the fried egg made up for it, haha. It turned out to be a surprisingly nice extra treat. Just be careful — the frying pan is a bit light, so handle it with care!

There's also a phone charger at the front counter. When you're traveling, your battery drains fast, so it's great to charge up while you eat, nice.

There's also coffee set up on the side for a palate-cleansing dessert.

## What we ordered at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang and what it cost

Every table has a kiosk, so you can order easily on your own. I always order the grilled fish sets, but my friend loves fish roe stew, so we tried the roe stew set too this time.

- Wood-fired mackerel set: ₩13,800
- Wood-fired spicy fish roe stew set: ₩17,900

![Table kiosk showing the set menu screen](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-ihotewoo-sunset-oceanview-selfbar/jeju-ihotewoo-sunset-oceanview-selfbar-16-2sdjo-900.webp)

Besides these, there's also grilled Spanish mackerel, grilled silver hairtail, and side dishes like wood-fired gorgonzola pizza that kids love.

![Full spread of the wood-fired mackerel set](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-ihotewoo-sunset-oceanview-selfbar/jeju-ihotewoo-sunset-oceanview-selfbar-17-k484k-900.webp)

### How the 13,800-won wood-fired grilled mackerel set tastes

Ta-da. Here's the full spread. The grilled mackerel is just so good, ugh — being wood-fired gives it that proper crispy-outside, moist-inside texture. Peel off the crispiest layer of skin and you get the tender, juicy mackerel flesh underneath. Serious rice-thief material.

![Rice topped with flaked mackerel](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-ihotewoo-sunset-oceanview-selfbar/jeju-ihotewoo-sunset-oceanview-selfbar-21-rumkq-900.webp)

It comes with lettuce for wraps, so you can add a bit of ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) to the mackerel and it's delicious that way too!

### How the 17,900-won wood-fired spicy fish roe stew set tastes

This is the fish roe stew. It comes with the same side dishes, just with the stew instead of grilled fish. It's packed with both gonyi (fish milt) and roe, so if you love roe stew, you'll really love this one.

It's less spicy-hot and more of a clean, bracing flavor. Not overly intense — it tastes like something that's actually good for you!
