One dish that pretty much everyone can agree on when a family or a group eats out together has to be marinated pork ribs. This time I wanted proper galbi (ribs) near Balsan Station, so I went to Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch.

## An upscale interior

![Spacious, clean interior hall of the Korean BBQ restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-02-jjn0p-900.webp)

The place itself was huge and spotless, and staff grilled the meat for us, which made this a really comfortable Korean BBQ restaurant near Balsan Station.

![Upscale, tidy interior atmosphere of the galbi restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-03-tuaxd-900.webp)

Compared to a typical pork rib place, the atmosphere here felt a bit more upscale and tidy — it seemed like a great fit for a family dinner with parents or for anyone looking for a company dinner spot near Balsan Station.

## Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga, close to Balsan Station — what about parking?

Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga is located at 42 Gangseo-ro 54-gil, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It's an easy walk from Balsan Station, so getting there by public transit is simple, but what I really liked was that free parking is available if you drive.

Around Magok and Balsan, parking on weekends or evening outings can honestly be stressful. This place has its own dedicated parking, which definitely makes things easier whether you're visiting with family by car or looking for a spot for a group dinner.

The entrance is neatly decorated, and further inside there's a spacious hall along with separate room spaces. There really are private rooms and a large room, so the layout works well for family meals, group gatherings, or company dinners.

## The menu

![Menu board listing marinated pork ribs (yangnyeom mokssal)](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-05-xyamy-900.webp)

![Menu board listing Hanwoo raw ribs and anchangsal](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-06-1tgr1-900.webp)

![Menu board listing naengmyeon and other meal items](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-07-17awx-900.webp)

True to its name, Galbi Myeongga has a wide variety of meat dishes. There's marinated pork rib (yangnyeom mokssal), marinated beef king ribs, marinated beef galbisal, Hanwoo raw ribs, and Hanwoo anchangsal, so you can pick according to budget or taste.

## A neatly set basic table

![Neatly set basic table spread at the BBQ restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-08-17nsa-900.webp)

Once we ordered, the basic side dishes came out first. Even though it's a BBQ place, the basic table setting was pretty neat too.

Marinated ribs are great on their own, but eating just meat over and over can get a bit much.

That's when a refreshing or crunchy side dish comes in handy — it resets your palate and gets you reaching for the meat again.

## 144-hour cross-aged marinated pork ribs

![144-hour cross-aged marinated pork ribs](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-10-dad8q-900.webp)

The dish that stood out to me at Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga was the marinated pork ribs (yangnyeom mokssal). Apparently it's cross-aged for 144 hours using a patented method, with organic pear used to bring out a natural sweetness.

![Marinated pork ribs cured in a pear-based marinade](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-11-ynxih-900.webp)

With marinated ribs, some places have such a strong sweet sauce flavor that a few bites in, you're already tired of it.

![Pork ribs with subtly sweet marinade soaked in](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-12-ki1cm-900.webp)

Here, since the marinade uses pear, the meat has a subtle sweetness added to it — that was the standout feature.

## Staff grill it for you, which is so convenient

![Staff grilling marinated ribs directly over charcoal](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-13-1dk8w-900.webp)

And here's a point I personally care about at BBQ places — staff grill the meat for you directly.

With marinated ribs, once they hit the grill, the sauce means they burn quickly, so you have to keep flipping them even mid-conversation, and whoever's grilling ends up a bit frazzled.

Here, since the staff grill it for you, you don't have to worry about the meat at all and can just relax and chat with your group while eating.

Especially when visiting with parents or having a company dinner, not having to have someone constantly grilling makes this kind of service feel a lot more comfortable.

## A tender piece of marinated ribs

The meat, grilled to a nice golden brown, gets cut into bite-sized pieces for you, so all you have to do is pick it up.

![Golden marinated ribs cut into bite-sized pieces](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-14-7c5s4-900.webp)

The flavor and tenderness weren't for nothing.

![A tender piece of grilled marinated pork rib](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-15-1u25e-900.webp)

The marinated pork ribs weren't overwhelmingly sauce-heavy — it was more a style where you enjoy the texture of the meat itself alongside the sweet marinade.

![Marinated pork ribs eaten with the basic side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-16-8v48f-900.webp)

It's great on its own, but pairing it with the different side dishes changes the flavor combination slightly each time, so it stayed interesting to the end.

![A piece of marinated ribs served over rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-17-1qp4y-900.webp)

And a spoonful of warm rice with a piece of galbi on top — that combo really can't fail, haha.

## Naengmyeon makes it complete

You can't skip naengmyeon (cold noodles) when eating pork ribs. After eating a good amount of the sweet marinated ribs, having cool naengmyeon alongside resets your palate completely, and then, magically, you're back to eating meat again, haha.

![Cool naengmyeon served alongside the marinated ribs](https://img.superchart.com/images/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs/ihwajeong-galbi-magok-balsan-pork-ribs-18-41hrb-900.webp)

If you want a hearty meal after the meat, ordering naengmyeon or doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) as well is a great idea.

## Also recommended for company dinners or family outings near Balsan Station

Visiting in person, I felt this place actually has more of an edge when a group gathers rather than just two people coming for meat.

From the spacious hall to the private rooms, plus free parking, and above all having staff grill the meat for you — all of that makes it comfortable when eating with several people.

### Mungyeong omija ade

Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga also has some special items — starting with Mungyeong omija (schisandra berry) ade, which you can get just by joining a review event!

It was refreshing and paired really well with the ribs, haha.

It tasted even better for being grilled over charcoal, and each cut had a different flavor — the owner kindly explained the differences, which made it even more enjoyable, haha.

The meat was delicious even eaten plain, haha.

## Finished off with pear sherbet!

Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga nailed even the ending of the meal.

Pear sherbet to cleanse the palate — and it's included as a basic dessert, which was really satisfying, haha.
