## In short

Myeongimong is a makguksu and tteokgalbi restaurant on Sinpyeong-ro in Sinbuk-myeon, Pocheon, a 5-minute drive from Pocheon Art Valley. Visiting with kids, the writer ordered two charcoal-grilled Korean pork tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) at 13,000 won each, one with cheese added, and an extra-large portion of buckwheat bibim makguksu (cold spicy buckwheat noodles) at 10,000 won, rounded out by set side dishes and doenjang soup from the self-serve bar. Sweet tteokgalbi with spicy cold noodles makes Myeongimong an easy meal stop on a Pocheon trip.

While looking for somewhere good to eat with the kids in Pocheon, Myeongimong popped right up on my restaurant radar! It's already well known as a Pocheon Art Valley spot, and since makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) and tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) are the main dishes, it seemed like something both adults and kids could enjoy — so here's my review after visiting 🙌🏻

Myeongimong is about a 5-minute drive from the entrance of Pocheon Art Valley toward Sinbuk Elementary School. There's a parking lot behind the building, which can be a little confusing to find, but if you follow the signs you'll arrive at this pretty, café-like Korean restaurant.

## Parking, EV charging and ordering by table kiosk

Myeongimong's parking lot is spacious and comfortable, and there's even an EV charging spot! The exterior looks like a pretty café, and the interior is just as modern and clean — honestly, I was surprised a place like this existed in Pocheon. Every table has a kiosk, so ordering is quick and easy.

## What we ordered at Myeongimong: cheese tteokgalbi and buckwheat bibim makguksu

We ordered two of Myeongimong's signature charcoal-grilled Hanwoo pork tteokgalbi (₩13,000 each) — one with the cheese option, one plain — plus a buckwheat bibim-makguksu (₩10,000).

### Side dishes and the buckwheat pancake

After ordering, they set the table with basic side dishes that felt really fresh. Tangy seasoned vegetables, salad, a chewy and savory buckwheat pancake, and pickled sides — all chosen to pair perfectly with the main dishes, which earned a perfect score from me 👍 The buckwheat pancake was so chewy and savory I wanted to order more.

### Doenjang soup at the self-serve side dish bar

If you run out of any side dish while eating, you can use the self-serve bar, which also has a separate doenjang (soybean paste) soup — so if you want something with broth, just help yourself there.

## Charcoal-grilled pork tteokgalbi: will kids eat it?

Finally, the main dishes arrived 😆 The tteokgalbi were bigger than an adult's palm and quite thick, so I immediately thought they were great value. They're served on a hot plate so they stay warm until the end. We ordered one plain and one with the cheese option, and the tenderness, juiciness, and flavor were incredible. Made from 100% domestic pork mixed with vegetables and fruit, aged, then grilled over charcoal — it wasn't overly sweet or dry, so the kids ate it up. The sauce wasn't too sweet either, so it never got cloying — I could have kept eating it endlessly. There's clearly a reason this place is becoming known as a Pocheon must-eat. The cheese-topped version added extra savoriness, so definitely go for the cheese option 💜

## Extra-large bibim makguksu paired with tteokgalbi

The double portion of makguksu the adults wanted! Two full portions of buckwheat noodles filled the bowl — just looking at it was filling. The spicy sauce on the bibim buckwheat noodles was just the right level of spicy with plenty of savory depth, and it paired amazingly with the tteokgalbi. Definitely order the sweet tteokgalbi and spicy buckwheat makguksu together 💚

## Outdoor terrace and final verdict on Myeongimong

After finishing our meal and stepping outside, I noticed there's an outdoor terrace too. Once the weather cools down more, eating out there would set a really nice mood. Sometimes friends ask me where to eat in Pocheon, and there are places I hesitate to recommend — but Myeongimong is one I'd confidently suggest as a Pocheon must-eat, and a Pocheon Art Valley must-eat. If you're traveling around Pocheon, Pocheon Art Valley, or nearby attractions, I highly recommend making time for a meal at Myeongimong. It'll definitely round out a perfect trip :)
