## In short

Opumchae Yangju Goeup Main Branch is a duck bulgogi restaurant on the second floor of Gwangjang Plaza in Goeup-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi. Two adults and two children shared the premium duck flower bulgogi (명품오리꽃불고기) at 65,000 won plus fried rice, and the owner measured the grill temperature and laid the meat on the plate himself. The duck had no gamey smell and stayed tender, making Opumchae an easy choice for a meal with children or parents.

Opumchae sits on the 2nd floor of Gwangjang Plaza in Goeup-dong. You can park in the building's basement, and as soon as you step off on the 2nd floor, Opumchae is right there, so it's easy to find. You can also book through various platforms like Naver Reservation and Coupang Eats.

## Inside Opumchae: the dining room and the self-serve Cheongchun sauce bar

This is the inside of Opumchae, a Goeup favorite. It's an overall warm wood-tone interior, but it's not boring — there are helpful signs everywhere and a self-serve bar set up.

The self-serve bar in particular has Opumchae's handmade Cheongchun sauce (청춘소스), which is a perfect match for duck bulgogi! There's also seokbakji (radish kimchi), radish wraps (mussam), baek-kimchi (white kimchi), bulnocho pickles, and fresh lettuce wraps — all great side dishes to eat with the duck bulgogi. The first round is complimentary, so refill as needed after that.

## Two adults and two kids: the 65,000-won premium duck flower bulgogi

We visited as two adults and two kids and ordered Opumchae's premium duck flower bulgogi (₩65,000).

![Table set with kids' dishware, scissors, and tongs](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-09-1ghjz-900.webp)

The self-serve bar has kids' dishware, scissors, tongs, and everything ready, and soon the pickled onions, Cheongchun sauce, and side dishes get set up. The Cheongchun sauce is slightly spicy — if you want it spicier, you can mix in the cheongyang chili peppers from the self-serve bar.

![Checking the grill temperature](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-12-1og7s-900.webp)

![Timer showing the cooking time for the meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-13-9uy0a-900.webp)

## The owner measures the grill temperature and grills the duck for you

One thing that surprised me — the owner actually checks the grill's temperature and puts the meat on personally once it hits the right temperature. There's a timer too. You can really feel the owner's pride and philosophy about the food in this.

![A full spread of Opumchae's premium duck flower bulgogi](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-14-1y1e1-900.webp)

And finally, here it is — Opumchae's signature premium duck flower bulgogi. It's loaded with fresh duck meat, vegetables, golden mushrooms, and even rice cake sticks!

Even after moving half a plate onto the grill, the portion was still huge — enough for 3–4 adults easily. And the owner kept coming by to check on us, signaling repeatedly that we shouldn't flip it yet, haha.

![Duck meat and vegetables cooking on the tilted grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-15-1jj1h-900.webp)

### Does the duck at Opumchae taste gamey?

The grill is slightly tilted so the fat drains right off, and as the duck meat, onions, chives, and golden mushrooms sizzled together, the flavors really came together. What amazed me most was that there was zero gamey duck smell! I'm really sensitive to that duck smell, so I was shocked there was none at all.

On top of that, there was no chewy or mushy part anywhere — even cooked longer, the texture stayed really tender, and I thought it'd be perfect to bring parents or kids along. Taking that well-cooked meat and vegetables like this,

![A piece of duck bulgogi dipped in Cheongchun sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-16-1gw5p-900.webp)

dipping it right into the Cheongchun sauce is absolutely delicious! The duck bulgogi itself is really clean-tasting, and with the vegetable flavor added in, it's great dipped in sauce and also great with the pickled onions. It's not a heavy, cloying flavor — I just kept eating more and more. The kids seemed to really like the mushrooms too, asking for just the mushrooms at one point.

![Fully cooked meat moved to the upper part of the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-18-1v0g8-900.webp)

Once cooked, the meat gets moved to the upper part of the grill while the remaining meat cooks on the lower part. If you're planning to have the fried rice, make sure to leave some duck meat behind!

## Finishing the meal with cheese fried rice

We only ordered one fried rice for dessert Korean-style, and the owner even asked "just one, really?" The rice comes out with impressively fluffy grains, stir-fried well with the duck fat.

![Cheese fried rice shaped into a heart](https://img.superchart.com/images/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family/oppumchae-yangju-goeup-duck-bulgogi-family-21-r34sk-900.webp)

We did the classic heart-shape trick with the fried rice and topped it with cheese for an upgrade! Stretchy cheese with the clean-tasting fried rice — yep, fried rice really is the right answer for dessert. Even if you're full, definitely order the fried rice!

There's a coffee machine ready for after the meal, and they also sell their own handmade side dishes. The bulnocho pickles especially are genuinely delicious — I recommend them.

## Why Opumchae works for a meal with kids and parents

Opumchae is truly a place designed for guests to eat comfortably. Phone stands, stain remover, hair ties, chargers — there's basically nothing missing, and you can really feel how much thought the owner put into having all these things ready. The food's deliciousness needs no further explanation — I get why it's such a talked-about spot in Goeup. With that tender texture and healthy flavor, I'm already planning to bring my parents next time. That wraps up today's restaurant feature.
