## In short

Panda Dim Sum is a Chinese and dim sum restaurant on the second floor of a building on Donggyo-ro 38an-gil in Yeonnam-dong, near Hongik University Station in Seoul. Two of us ordered half a Peking duck for 39,000 won, flying fish roe shumai for 8,500 won and a black pepper beef rice bowl for 15,000 won, wrapping the duck in yabing pancakes before finishing the bowl. Half a duck is plenty for two at Panda Dim Sum, and with high chairs and group tables it suits both a family meal and a date.

The signature dish is of course
Peking duck~~~~ yes, you can actually get Beijing duck here.
It comes in whole and half sizes, so it's easy to choose what fits.

## What we ordered for two and what it cost

- Half Peking duck ₩39,000
- Flying fish roe shumai ₩8,500
- Black pepper beef rice bowl ₩15,000

## Is half a Peking duck enough for two people?

The half Peking duck at Panda Dim Sum is ₩39,000, and for two people, half a duck was plenty. The duck, yabing (thin wheat pancakes), scallion strips, cucumber strips, sugar, and sauce all came out first as one spread.

![Full spread of half Peking duck](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-15-vdwkj-900.webp)

There's even a flower for decoration, isn't it such a pretty presentation?
Eat with your eyes first, then your mouth~~~

Can you see the steam rising?
Tear off a piece of the warm, thin, chewy yabing,
wrap it with duck, scallion strips, and cucumber strips, dip it in the sauce, and enjoy.
No gamey smell at all, which makes this Yeonnam-dong Peking duck spot even better.

![Peking duck and scallion strips wrapped in yabing](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-16-yrgu6-900.webp)

![Dipping the Peking duck wrap in sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-17-4svhu-900.webp)

![Crispy duck skin with sugar](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-18-twpfp-900.webp)

The thin duck skin is so crispy
that dipping it in sugar makes it a real treat.
Savory, like eating a cracker.

## Flying fish roe shumai, 8,500 won

The flying fish roe shumai is ₩8,500, a dim sum topped with flying fish roe that looks as pretty as a flower.

![Steaming flying fish roe shumai](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-19-vhdxi-900.webp)

Steam rising off it~~
A juice-packed shumai that's a great way to get into dim sum.
Dip it in the ginger and soy sauce that comes with it for extra flavor.

## Black pepper beef rice bowl, 15,000 won

![Black pepper beef rice bowl topped with grilled scallions](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-20-1hcua-900.webp)

Here comes the flavorful black pepper beef rice bowl, topped with grilled scallions and full of black pepper aroma!!

It also comes with crunchy pickled mustard stem.

![Pickled mustard stem served alongside the rice bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-21-1df2p-900.webp)

The tender beef and sweet potato are both cut into cubes and grilled to bite-size pieces,
which adds a touch of sweetness.

![Cubed beef and sweet potato in the rice bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-22-1a5ow-900.webp)

Softly stir-fried, juicy beef with a salty-sweet balance and a sharp kick of black pepper on top makes for a deeply savory Chinese-style rice bowl.
It's a flavor kids would enjoy too, making it a good pick for a family meal out.

![Chicken dandan noodles topped with chicken](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-23-1ph6z-705.webp)

And here's the chicken dandan noodles from a previous visit —
a hint of mala aroma with generous chunks of chicken, on a peanut base that's nutty and spicy, so I'd recommend it~ for adults!
(Adding this so you have more menu options to choose from when eating out~)

![Broth and noodles of the chicken dandan noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai/panda-dimsum-yeonnam-flying-fish-siomai-24-1l8gp-679.webp)

Looks delicious, right~

## Is Panda Dim Sum worth a visit?

A Hongdae Chinese restaurant that puts a fresh spin on authentic Asian food —
Panda Dim Sum's signature "Peking duck,"
the juice-packed flying fish roe shumai,
and the tender beef rice dish "black pepper beef rice bowl" are all made with care and easy to enjoy.
For a soup dish, I'd also recommend the chicken dandan noodles.

🌸 With its friendly staff and modern interior, this would make a great Hongdae date spot too.
