With the weather turning cooler, I guess a lot of people are hunting for outdoor seating at Euljiro's old-timer restaurants these days. I figured a tteokbokki place would be easy to get into, but both inside and outside were already packed, and I barely snagged the last seat at this old-school tteokbokki spot, Hyeonseoni-ne. It wasn't the fancy, dressed-up style of instant tteokbokki you see nowadays, but the old-fashioned, nostalgic kind, which made me so happy. You could choose the spice level from mild/medium/spicy, and we went with medium. But it was pretty spicy, so if you can't handle heat, definitely go with mild...! Honestly I'm not usually a big fan of jjolmyeon as an add-in, but it went so well with the sauce that it ended up being my favorite add-in I've ever had in tteokbokki!! The seasoning soaked in perfectly and it was so good.
