## In short

Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Yongin Main Branch is a sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) restaurant on the sundae alley of Yongin Central Market in Gyeonggi-do. Visiting for a late lunch with a baby in tow, the writer ordered two large spicy sundaeguk bowls packed with head meat, ojingeo-gamtu, and gopchang, and got seated instantly despite there being no high chair. The spicy, sesame-scented broth was better than expected — perfect for a hangover.

Cheoin-gu, Yongin restaurant. Gimnyangjang-dong restaurant. Yongin Central Market restaurant.

I'd been wanting to go to Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk's Yongin main branch ever since I saw it in a Yongin Central Market video! I've been to Yongin Market plenty of times, but this was my first visit to the Gyeongseong Sundaeguk original branch!!

There's no high chair, so I thought it'd be hard to bring the baby along, but she sat still like a champ so we got to enjoy the meal without any trouble hahaha.

## Hours, parking, and watch out for break time

- Address: 20-10 Geumnyeong-ro 85beon-gil, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do
- Hours: Weekdays 11:00–21:30 / Weekends 9:00–21:30
- Break time: 15:20–16:20
- No dedicated lot, but the Yongin Market public parking lot isn't far

Break time officially starts at 15:20, but a customer who walked in before 15:00 was turned away because they'd already closed up. I'd recommend calling ahead if you're cutting it close to break time.

## The main branch, on the sundae alley of Yongin Central Market

Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk has opened a lot of branches lately, but the Yongin main branch sits right in Yongin Central Market — and on the sundae alley, no less, which made me even more excited.

Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk is known for its nutty, sesame-laced broth, so I ordered the spicy version — and I'm glad I got the large size. So much filling packed in, such a great find at Yongin Central Market!!!

## Waiting and the atmosphere inside

The place isn't huge, but tables turn over fast so the wait isn't bad. It looked like people line up outside, but since I went for a late lunch there was no wait at all — I walked right in! Surprisingly a lot of solo diners at this Yongin Central Market spot.

Most people at this Gimnyangjang-dong restaurant order the soup dishes, but there are also several anju (drinking snacks) on the menu, so I'd guess plenty of people come in for a drink in the evening. Feels like the kind of place that pairs perfectly with makgeolli!

## Ordering two bowls of spicy sundaeguk, large

You order from the table via a kiosk, so we ordered two spicy sundaeguk, large size. I usually go for the regular sundaeguk, but my husband's spicy bowl always looks so good that this time I ordered spicy too hahaha.

The basic side dishes come to the table first, and the rest are self-serve! If you ask for cheongyang chili peppers, they'll pull them out of the fridge for you.

The spicy sundaeguk, large, arrived at a rolling boil!! Loaded with head meat and traditional sundae (blood sausage), the spicy, refreshing broth was excellent. Really perfect for a hangover. The nutty sesame aroma pairs so well with the sundaeguk.

### The large size means a bigger bowl and more broth

Order the large and you get a slightly bigger earthenware bowl with a lot more broth!! Head meat, ojingeo-gamtu (pork stomach lining), and gopchang meat all packed in for even more variety. I knew this chain was famous, but eating at the main branch made it taste even better!

## The side dish spread

Sides came out as kimchi, kkakdugi, peppers, onion, salted shrimp, and ssamjang — just the essentials, clean and simple, which I liked. I've tried a few Gimnyangjang-dong restaurants, but this is still the best sundaeguk around.

### Spicy but not painfully so

One spoonful of that spicy broth and it felt like it cut right through the greasiness from earlier. Even someone who can't handle much spice should be fine — it's not the kind of heat that burns your mouth. The chili paste was smoothly dissolved into the broth, which I loved.

![Eating spicy sundaeguk with added cheongyang chili](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-market-spicy-sundae-gukbap/yongin-market-spicy-sundae-gukbap-15-12rfn-966.webp)

Plenty of sundae and head meat in there too, and once I added some chopped cheongyang chili, I got completely hooked on that cool, spicy flavor... My husband, who loves sundaeguk, said this is the best he's had haha.

![Kkakdugi cut into large chunks](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-market-spicy-sundae-gukbap/yongin-market-spicy-sundae-gukbap-16-17tcm-966.webp)

The kkakdugi was really good too, cut into nice big chunks. The kind of flavor that makes you polish off a whole bowl of rice!! I refilled from the self-serve bar and mixed it into the broth too, so it disappeared fast.

## Is it worth waiting in line for?

Every time I've been to Yongin Central Market, Gyeongseong Sundaeguk has had a line. I was curious how good it really was, and it turned out to be better than expected. Worth waiting in line for? If it's around 30 minutes, absolutely!! Any longer than that would be tough...

Anyway, I saw it on YouTube and it looked so good that I went, and both my husband and I ended up eating really well. No high chair or not, I'm going back!!!
