## In short

Gupo Jjambbong Gupo Main Branch is a Chinese restaurant near Gupo Market in Buk-gu, Busan, popular for family meals. A weekend lunch with a child brought tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), eggplant mandu, octopus-abalone jjambbong and jjajangmyeon to the table, with the jjambbong smoky and spicy yet clean-tasting and the jjajangmyeon mild enough for the child to finish the whole bowl. Worth visiting when you want to please adult and kid palates at once.

Gupo Jjambbong, a Gupo Market restaurant in Busan we visited with our kid, absolutely nailed the whole family's taste buds.

We were racking our brains over where to take our kid for a weekend family meal when clean, non-greasy Chinese food came to mind, so we headed to Gupo Jjambbong! It's been recommended a lot as a great Gupo Market restaurant in Busan for a tidy meal nearby, and I'd been curious about it — so when I happened to have errands in the area, I finally stopped by for lunch 😊

## First impression, walking in with a kid

Stepping inside, the interior was clean and well kept, which won me over right away. When eating out with a kid, taste matters, but I also pay close attention to things like hygiene and table spacing for a comfortable atmosphere — and the owner and staff greeted us warmly, so we settled in easily.

## What we ordered

Wanting to try a bit of everything, we finished ordering a hearty spread: tangsuyuk, eggplant mandu (dumplings), octopus-abalone jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce) for our kid. True to its reputation as a Gupo Market restaurant in Busan known for family meals, the menu was varied and solid — I loved it.

### Eggplant mandu

The moment I bit into the eggplant mandu, rich juices and vegetable liquid wrapped around my mouth. No greasy smell, just clean and savory — I think kids could eat this without any hesitation too.

### Tangsuyuk

The tangsuyuk that came alongside seemed fried in clean oil too — the batter color was clear and the texture super crispy. No trace of pork smell at all, and dipped generously into the sweet and sour sauce, it never got tiring, my hand kept reaching for more. I understood right away why this Gupo Market restaurant in Busan gets so much praise for its fried dishes.

### Octopus-abalone jjambbong

The octopus-abalone jjambbong arrived generously loaded. The moment I saw a whole chunky octopus and a whole fresh abalone sitting on top, I couldn't help but gasp.

We cut the seafood into bite-sized pieces with scissors and tasted it with the broth — the seafood's springy texture was fully intact, and a subtle smoky char flavor ran deep through the whole broth, giving it real depth. It wasn't heavy or overly harsh-spicy, but clean and refreshingly spicy in a way that felt like it cleared you right out.

They clearly don't skimp on fresh ingredients in this jjambbong, and I really felt the skill of a Gupo Market restaurant in Busan that seafood lovers rank highly.

### The jjajangmyeon our kid ate

Last, the jjajangmyeon we ordered for our kid had a sauce that wasn't too sweet or salty, with a clean, savory depth that must have suited a young child's palate perfectly — our kid finished the entire bowl solo, cleanly. The noodles, unlike other places, were packed with healthy ingredients, which made it feel like an even healthier meal for kids.

## How was it as a family meal?

Watching our kid eat happily made me smile, and I felt like we'd found a great Gupo Market restaurant in Busan that satisfies adult and kid palates at the same time. Spicy jjambbong broth, sweet jjajangmyeon, plus crispy fried dishes on the side — it was the perfect combination.

The food wasn't over-seasoned and carefully brought out the ingredients' own flavors, so we finished the meal happily down to the last bite. Enjoying a hearty Chinese meal in a comfortable, clean atmosphere — I think I'll naturally end up here again whenever I'm in the area.
