# Yeongjong bagel café with soft bagels: Pink Wall Cafe

While on a drive and date in Yeongjong, I stopped by Pink Wall Cafe (핑크월카페) in Eulwang-ri. Since I usually like bagels, being able to try several varieties was why I chose it as our destination.

## Where is Pink Wall Cafe, and is parking convenient?

Pink Wall Cafe is on Yongyuseo-ro in Eulwang-ri, Yeongjong. As we arrived, the pink building stood out even from a distance.

There was parking not only on one side of the building but on the other side as well. It was relatively open when I visited, so it was easy to stop by by car. True to its name, the exterior walls were pink.

## What are the outdoor seats and terrace like?

There were many plants around the building. The pink exterior and green plants worked well together, making the front of the building and the plants a decent backdrop for photos.

There were outdoor seats and a small, pond-like pool in front of the building. The sun was strong and it was hot on the day I visited, so no one was using the outdoor tables. I thought it would be nice to sit outside and look at the scenery on a cooler day.

Between the indoor and outdoor areas was a greenhouse-like terrace. With plants arranged around it, it had a different feel from the indoor seating, and guests visiting with dogs seemed to use this area often.

On a day when it is too hot to sit outside but feels disappointing to stay indoors the whole time, the terrace seats could be an option. I looked around outside a little more before going in.

## What was disappointing about the indoor seating?

Not only the exterior but the interior was consistently pink. The walls, furniture, dolls, and small decorative items were all in the same color, so the café's concept came through clearly.

However, rows of similarly designed tables made it hard to immediately pick a seat I liked. There were also more guests than I expected from looking outside, so I spent quite a while deciding where to sit. It was not uncomfortable because of a lack of seats, and I enjoyed looking around the bright interior and decorations.

## What bagels, prices, and cream cheese options are there?

There were other bakery items, but bagels were the most plentiful. I chose the mocha cream cheese bagel and the basil tomato bagel.

There were also soboro chestnut bagels, green onion cream cheese bagels, garlic bagels, and more. There was enough variety that choosing just two took some thought.

At the time of my visit, the mocha cream cheese bagel was ₩6,500 and the basil tomato bagel was ₩6,000. At first, I felt that was a little expensive for one bagel.

With each bagel order, one cream cheese was provided free of charge. We chose one plain and one blueberry cream cheese. Considering that cream cheese was included, the price made more sense.

## How did the two bagels taste and feel?

The mocha cream cheese bagel had a coffee aroma and sweet mocha flavor. It reminded me more of mocha bread than a typical bagel.

Adding cream cheese made it sweeter and softer. It went well with the cream cheese we chose.

The basil tomato bagel had a somewhat more familiar flavor.

The combination of basil and tomato reminded me of pizza bread. Its savory flavor also paired well with coffee.

Both bagels had a soft texture closer to regular bread than the chewy, elastic texture commonly expected of bagels. Since I like chewy bagels, this was disappointing for me. They may suit someone who prefers soft bread over a tough or firm texture.

## How were the drinks with the bagels?

For drinks, we ordered an Americano and a matcha latte.

The Americano was rich and nutty, making it good to have with bakery items.

The matcha latte was fine. It had a subtle hint of matcha's characteristic bitterness along with the softness of milk, making it easy to drink with the bagels.
