## In short

Samsin Garosu-gil is a Chinese restaurant spread over the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building on Garosu-gil in Gangnam, Seoul, about an 8-minute walk from Sinsa Station Exit 8. Three diners each ordered Samsin Course B at ₩35,000, which ran from Sokcho snow crab soup through Tokyo tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), chili shrimp, a 3-piece handmade dim sum sampler, jjamppong and jjajangmyeon, to dessert, and the thin-battered thick-cut tangsuyuk and the deep jjamppong broth stood out most. Samsin Garosu-gil has private rooms that suit hosting guests, though the course was served at a slightly rushed pace.

I heard a new Chinese restaurant had opened in Garosu-gil, so I visited Samsin Garosu-gil!

![Building exterior of Samsin Garosu-gil with Asian-style elements](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-03-pbsca-966.webp)

The vibe was a bit different from a typical Chinese restaurant right from the outside. It felt like traditional Asian elements reimagined in a modern way, so even walking by, I found myself looking twice to figure out what kind of place it was~

![Celebrity autographs hanging near the entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-05-19voy-966.webp)

Near the entrance there were autographs from celebrities who'd visited — seems like a lot of people have already come by even though it's a new spot!

## Dining rooms and private rooms at Samsin Garosu-gil

Rather than a chaotic atmosphere, the space felt clean and calm, making it a little more comfortable to eat in.

![Calm-atmosphere dining hall at Samsin Garosu-gil](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-06-1jyxk-966.webp)

![Table setting with elegant dishware](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-07-1i2rm-966.webp)

The dishware on the table also had an elegant, antique feel to each piece. There's a separate private room too, so I thought it would be good for family meals, taking out elders, or group gatherings!

## What comes in Samsin Course B at ₩35,000 per person

![Menu board at Samsin Garosu-gil](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-08-luo17-966.webp)

![Menu board listing the Samsin course composition](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-09-36wut-912.webp)

There's a variety of à la carte items too, but this time we wanted an easy course meal, so we ordered Samsin Course B for 3, ₩35,000 each!

Considering it's a Chinese course meal in Sinsa-dong, the price didn't feel too burdensome.

## Eating Samsin Course B dish by dish

![Gonggalppang served before the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-10-cf4hm-966.webp)

![Sugar-coated inside of the gonggalppang](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-11-cfd9e-966.webp)

Before the meal they brought out what looked like gonggalppang (hollow fried bread), with a sweet sugar coating inside — a crispy bite that was really nice haha.

![First course dish, Sokcho crab soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-12-8ujc1-966.webp)

### Sokcho snow crab soup

The course opened with a warm crab soup.

![A bowl of rich crab meat soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-13-1xd1b-966.webp)

This was the first dish that made me think 'this is good' right from the first bite — a rich flavor from the crab meat and a smooth texture, perfect as a starter!

![Tokyo tangsuyuk served sauce-poured style in a ceramic bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-14-134fd-966.webp)

### Tokyo tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)

The tangsuyuk came out in a ceramic bowl, sauce-poured style, still bubbling! But be careful, the bowl itself is really hot^^ I found out the hard way, so I didn't want to know 😇

The outside was only lightly crispy while the meat inside was thick, so with every bite you really felt the presence of the meat, and the batter was thin, which was really satisfying~

### Chili shrimp

The chili shrimp came with a glossy sauce and plump shrimp.

![Chili shrimp with glossy sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-15-uk6eo-966.webp)

The sweet and tangy flavor hit first, and since the shrimp weren't small, the texture was great too — nice to have midway through the course!

![A plate of the 3-piece handmade dim sum sampler](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-16-13yee-966.webp)

### Handmade dim sum sampler, 3 pieces

This was the 3-piece dim sum that came in the middle of the course! In order: xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), shrimp har gow, and wedding siu mai.

![Xiaolongbao included in the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-17-yakxf-966.webp)

![Shrimp har gow included in the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-18-vs8xe-966.webp)

It was nice being able to try one of each type, and the fillings were generous — eaten while still warm, they were moist and tender inside 🥹

![Jjamppong chosen as the final dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-20-1kwul-m-966.webp)

### Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup)

For the final dish you can choose between jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, or fried rice, and the jjamppong had a rich broth.

![Close-up of the rich jjamppong broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-21-1ce2a-966.webp)

The meat had a nice smoky char and the broth felt heavy and full-bodied — if you're looking for jjamppong in Sinsa-dong, I think it'd be worth ordering on its own too!

![Jjajangmyeon served at the end of the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-22-q3mzy-966.webp)

### Jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce)

The jjajangmyeon had a savory chunjang (black bean paste) flavor. The sauce wasn't overly sweet, and the distinct chunjang taste came through well, pairing nicely with the noodles!

![Dessert served at the end of the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-23-16tbg-966.webp)

### Dessert to finish the course

Finally, dessert came out to close the course.

![Dessert topped with yuzu sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three/garosugil-samsin-course-for-three-24-19bkw-966.webp)

There was a yuzu sauce on top that was a bit too sweet for my taste. That was my only small disappointment, but overall it was a satisfying meal~

## Is Samsin Course B worth ₩35,000?

This feels like a place that would come to mind when craving a Chinese course meal in Garosu-gil!

From the crab soup starter through the tangsuyuk, chili shrimp, to the final dish, there was fun in eating through the sequence, and the food was satisfying overall. In particular, the tangsuyuk with its thin batter and thick-cut meat, and the rich broth jjamppong, stuck with me!

Would I return: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Drawback: the course moved along a bit too fast
