This time I visited Boksakkot Pineun Jip (복사꽃피는집), located on the Yuseong side of Daejeon.

I ordered the 'jjuchipa,' which was marked as the recommended menu item. Bottom line first: the portion was bigger than expected, and the food tasted great too. On top of that, pizza, salad, and mukbap all came out with it, so by the time I finished eating I couldn't finish the pizza and packed it to take home.

Parking was easy, and I could also get free coffee and drinks after the meal, so this felt less like a place for just one dish and more like somewhere to handle a full meal through dessert in one stop.

Boksakkot has a large sign up top on the building, so it was fairly easy to spot from a distance.

What caught my eye first when I arrived, though, was the parking. A wide lot was set up in front of the restaurant, making it easy to visit by car. There was even a separate sign directing drivers to a temporary lot if the main one was full.

When I go to a restaurant, easy parking matters to me about as much as the food does, and I liked that this place seemed unlikely to cause much stress on that front.

Besides the regular dining area, the inside had a separate 'kids' room.' It was partitioned off from the dining space with glass, and inside I could see a play area with toys.

When eating out with kids, you have to balance the adults' mealtime with the kids' mood, so having a space like this feels quite practical for families. Even just from the photos, the atmosphere seemed well suited to family meals or group gatherings.

## What's on the self-serve banchan bar?

On one side, there was a self-serve bar where you could help yourself to banchan (side dishes).

There were several side dishes prepared to go well with the main food — kimchi, radish pickles, macaroni salad, seasoned bean sprouts, pickled vegetables, and more. When eating something spicy like jjuchipa, you need something to alternate with in between bites, and it was nice being able to grab as much as I wanted myself.

Jjuchipa, ₩18,900 per person. What we ordered was the 'jjuchipa.' Looking at the menu, jjuchipa was marked as Boksakkot's recommended dish, described as a menu that 'adds richness through pasta to the flavor of spicy webfoot octopus and cheese sauce.' It's a dish you can only order for two people or more.

Just from the name, you might first wonder 'what is jjuchipa?' — but it's easy to understand once you think of it as webfoot octopus combined with cheese and pasta. Tasting it myself, it was delicious, but what stood out most was how generous the overall portion was.

With cheese and pasta added to the spicy dish, plus the whole set to eat alongside it, the meal ended up being quite filling.

## The set for two: wood-fired pizza, salad and mukbap

According to the menu, ordering the set for two or more comes with a handmade wood-fired pizza, salad, and mukbap. The pizza is either gorgonzola or a seasonal pizza, and the sign noted that the pizza size changes depending on the number of people.

This turned out to be more food than expected. Between the jjuchipa itself and the pizza, salad, and mukbap on top of it, we ended up unable to finish the pizza.

So we packed up the leftover pizza and brought it home. These days there are places where you eat out and feel like the portions are too small, but at Boksakkot it was the opposite — we couldn't finish it and had to pack it up, so for us at least, the portions were generous.

It wasn't just the amount that satisfied me — the food itself did too. Rather than feeling like an excessive pile of dishes, it felt like a meal where you could eat different kinds of food — a spicy octopus dish and a pizza — together, which kept things from getting boring.

## Boksakkot's full menu and prices

Looking at the menu, Boksakkot isn't a place that only sells webfoot octopus dishes. There was fire-grilled pork stir-fry, fire-grilled webfoot octopus stir-fry, and fire-grilled long-arm octopus stir-fry, along with mushroom bulgogi hot pot and octopus with bulgogi, plus dishes good for sharing with a group, like an-so-galbijjim and seafood king short rib jjim.

The jjuchipa we ordered is ₩18,900 per person. If visiting with kids, I also saw separate items on the menu like handmade sirloin pork cutlet at ₩12,000, kids' spaghetti at ₩9,000, and handmade wood-fired pizza at ₩9,000. Combined with the kids' room, the menu lineup clearly seems designed with family dining in mind.

## Free coffee and drinks after the meal

Another thing I liked here was the dessert. After finishing the meal, you can use coffee or drinks free of charge.

Looking at the menu, there were quite a few options — americano, café latte, café mocha, vanilla latte, along with ashatchu, chamomile, peach iced tea, hot chocolate, and iced chocolate. The dessert drinks are provided as takeout, and I was told you could also enjoy them comfortably at the café next door or on the terrace.

Usually after a meal, you end up heading to a separate café, but here you can follow the meal straight through to drinks, which was quite convenient. Including this part, my overall satisfaction went up even more.

## How to get to Boksakkot and where to park

Parking was something I was particularly happy with when visiting in person. There was a wide parking space in front of the restaurant, along with a separate parking guide sign.

When you drive somewhere to eat and the parking is tight, you can feel worn out before you even start eating — but Boksakkot was quite comfortable on that front.

## Final verdict on Boksakkot in Yuseong, Daejeon

Overall, this visit to Boksakkot left me satisfied. The jjuchipa tasted great, and above all, the set was quite filling — filling enough that we ended up packing the pizza to go.

I also liked the spacious parking lot, and the kids' room stood out as something useful when visiting with a child. On top of that, being able to use free coffee or drinks after the meal meant you could wrap up everything from dinner to dessert in one place, which was another plus.

Personally, the impression I came away with wasn't that any single dish was especially special, but that there was little friction across the board — taste, portion size, parking, kid-friendly facilities, and dessert service. If I'm ever eating with family near Sutonggol in Daejeon again, I'd be happy to stop by.

Next time, I'd like to try one of the other fire-grilled dishes on the menu instead of the jjuchipa.
