## In short

Saechamjip is a Korean bar and restaurant near Gunja Station in Gwangjin, Seoul, where the seating is divided section by section so groups can settle in for dinner and drinks. The order was Jirisan hanwoo (Korean beef) daedori tang (bone and meat stew) in the basic flavour and baekmuk-eunji stone plate bone grill at spice level 1, plus 4 bowls of rice. Saechamjip feels less like a drinking-snack stop and more like a proper meal, which makes it a solid group bar near Gunja Station.

It had been a while since I got together with a group for dinner and drinks, so we headed to the Gunja area. This time we visited Saechamjip, a Korean bar that kept popping up as a Gunja Station spot. We were looking for somewhere we could sit comfortably as a group and talk, and ended up here — the food menu was substantial enough to double as a proper meal, which made it a good pick for a dinner gathering.

## What is Saechamjip near Gunja Station like inside?

Saechamjip is a Korean bar on the 2nd floor near Gunja Station. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was that familiar, comfortable atmosphere of a Korean pub. It wasn't too loud — more the kind of place where you can sit, chat, and have a drink.

Further inside there were seats for a larger group, which made it great for gatherings. It seemed like it would work well both for a night out with friends and for a group dinner-plus-drinks kind of evening.

## Group seating at Saechamjip in Gwangjin

At Saechamjip, each spot has its own divided space, so we ended up spending time more comfortably than I expected. On a day when you're visiting with a group, having seating laid out this well is definitely a plus.

We settled in and looked over the menu. It was mostly Korean-style dishes, which looked good not just for drinking but for having a proper meal too.

That day we ordered the Jirisan hanwoo (Korean beef) daedori tang in the mild spice level and the baekmuk-eunji stone plate bone grill at spice level 1. And to make sure we had a real meal, we also ordered four bowls of rice in total.

Ordering four bowls of rice at a bar might sound like a lot, but it made sense the moment the food arrived. Both dishes were the kind you naturally want to pair with rice — broth and sauce that basically turn the table into dinner mode.

## Jirisan hanwoo daedori tang, basic flavour

The first dish to arrive was Saechamjip's Jirisan hanwoo daedori tang. We chose the mild spice level.

Once it was set on the table, the generous portion caught our eyes right away. It's the kind of dish that's easy to place in the middle and share, so it suited a group bar setting well.

As the broth started bubbling, the ingredients and seasoning blended together naturally. Going with the mild option meant it wasn't too sharp, so it was easy and comfortable to eat.

After eating the solid ingredients first and taking a spoonful of broth, I immediately started craving rice. So we brought out the rice and started eating it together with the broth — the combination was definitely good.

As a warm broth dish, it worked well after a drink and also held its own as a proper meal. If you're looking for a Gunja Station bar where you can also take care of dinner, this kind of menu combo is a good option.

## Baekmuk-eunji stone plate bone grill at spice level 1

Next up was Saechamjip's signature dish, the baekmuk-eunji stone plate bone grill. We tried it at spice level 1.

We were told spice level 1 is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, so we picked it without much worry. Even if you're not great with spicy food, it's approachable enough to try, and we enjoyed it.

Since it's served on a stone plate, it stayed warm the whole time, which made it good to eat right to the end. Pairing the bone grill with the baekmuk-eunji, bite after bite, made a really nice combination.

Because it's a saucy dish, this one also went really well with rice. Putting the meat on top of the rice with a little of the sauce made it feel more like a meal than a bar snack.

Switching back and forth between the daedori tang and the stone plate bone grill worked well too. One is a warm broth dish, the other is richly seasoned bone grill, so the two never felt repetitive. In the end, we emptied all four bowls of rice one by one and had a proper dinner. It didn't feel like just snacking at a bar — it felt like a real meal.

## Is Saechamjip worth it for a group dinner near Gunja Station?

Saechamjip turned out to be a solid spot for eating a real meal while drinking with a group. The Jirisan hanwoo daedori tang paired especially well with rice and broth, and the mild spice level made it easy to enjoy. The baekmuk-eunji stone plate bone grill at spice level 1 had a nice subtle kick too.

Both dishes paired so well with rice that we ended up finishing all four bowls, clean. If you're looking for a Gunja Station group bar, or want to gather several friends for a meal plus drinks, and you like the idea of a broth dish alongside spicy bone grill, Saechamjip is a good choice. I'd like to come back and try a few more of the Korean dishes on the menu next time.
