## In short

Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch is a knife-cut noodle (kalguksu) restaurant that makes its own noodles, at 90 Gomae-ro, Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. On the weekend before Chuseok, after shopping at Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung, the writer stopped by with a friend's family and used the table ordering tablet for chadol minari ssam kalguksu (brisket and water dropwort wraps) at 15,500 won, whole shrimp seafood pancake at 13,500 won, and Jochiwon peach bibim mandu (spicy mixed dumplings) at 9,900 won. With a kids' rice meal, baby chairs and a standalone building that makes parking easy, Jangwongap worked well for a family meal out.

It's a self-made-noodle kalguksu place. It's near Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung, so it was easy to stop by before or after shopping. The chadol (beef brisket) minari (water dropwort) ssam kalguksu with pancake and bibim mandu worked both as a proper meal and as bar snacks.

They also brought out baby rice separately, so it was nice to visit with the baby too.

## Why stop at Jangwongap after Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung before Chuseok?

We went on an autumn outing with a friend's family to Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung. Maybe because it was the weekend before Chuseok, the outlet was packed with people. My friend, who often goes to Lotte Outlet, took us to this restaurant she said was a hidden gem — a kalguksu place that makes its own noodles.

Jangwongap Kalguksu, a kalguksu spot in Giheung-gu, Yongin, is conveniently located for shopping and eating at Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung. Being a standalone building, parking is easy, and with all the vegetables we ate, it felt like a healthy meal.

## What is on the Jangwongap Kalguksu menu?

The signature dish is the self-made-noodle kalguksu, where you first eat chadol (beef brisket), minari, and mushrooms shabu-shabu style, then move on to the kalguksu noodles and finish with fried rice.

The side pancake and bibim mandu work well either as an appetizer or alongside the kalguksu.

The seafood pancake comes with a self-service container for taking leftovers home, which is handy when ordering for two.

## Is Jangwongap Kalguksu easy for a family meal with kids?

With mild, non-spicy food and a spacious layout, it's a good place for a family meal out. The parking flow is easy whether you visit with kids or parents, and it's close to the outlet. Once inside, the high ceilings make it feel less cramped even when full, and tables turn over quickly.

> Overall it had a spacious, clean atmosphere, and the tables were generously spaced, so it was good for chatting

There were a lot of families around, and with a baby chair and a kids' meal menu available, it seemed like a comfortable place to eat with a child too.

## Ordering by table tablet at Jangwongap: what we paid

We ordered through the table order tablet. You can choose while looking at menu photos and descriptions, and there's good explanation everywhere on how to eat each dish deliciously. My friend, who comes here often, recommended the menu.

- Chadol Minari Ssam Kalguksu ₩15,500
- Whole Shrimp Seafood Pancake ₩13,500
- Jochiwon Peach Bibim Mandu ₩9,900

Both sides were things I personally like, so I ordered them together.

When they set up the main kalguksu, they also brought out the pancake and bibim mandu at the same time, so it was nice to eat those first like an appetizer. The staff were also quick and friendly.

### Whole shrimp seafood pancake, 13,500 won

Before the kalguksu started boiling, I tried the whole shrimp seafood pancake first, and looking at the plate, the seafood was packed on pretty thick. It's on the thin side, but the outside is fried crispy, so it goes well wrapped with the kalguksu too.

### Jochiwon peach bibim mandu, 9,900 won

The other side dish was the Jochiwon peach bibim mandu. It's good to cut the accompanying pancake with scissors and share, and it also pairs well piled on top of the tangy, refreshing Jochiwon peach bibim mandu.

According to the detail page, vegetables are tossed in a sauce made with Jochiwon's specialty peach vinegar plus pear and apple, and it comes with fried mandu, which makes it easy to eat. The sauce is tangy, like jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles).

Eating something tangy alongside the kalguksu worked really well. The main dish we ordered, the chadol minari ssam kalguksu, was the dish my friend recommended at Jangwongap Kalguksu.

![Beef brisket and minari vegetables for Chadol Minari Ssam Kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-giheung-kalguksu-jangwongap-family-visit/yongin-giheung-kalguksu-jangwongap-family-visit-18-1mcyx-900.webp)

![Brisket and mushrooms placed into the broth pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-giheung-kalguksu-jangwongap-family-visit/yongin-giheung-kalguksu-jangwongap-family-visit-19-1e2f5-900.webp)

## How to eat the chadol minari ssam kalguksu, 15,500 won

The beef brisket, minari, vegetables, and mushrooms come out first, followed by the self-made kalguksu noodles and then fried rice. It was great wrapping the brisket with sesame oil dip like a ssam (wrap).

> I love meat and I love minari too, so this was totally my style

It's a hearty meal before or after a round of golf, and it's great because it works as both a full meal and bar food. Jangwongap uses self-made kalguksu noodles, fresh noodles made in-house, which are more bite-sized than typical kalguksu noodles, more like sujebi (hand-torn dough soup).

![Fresh self-made noodles from Jangwongap Kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-giheung-kalguksu-jangwongap-family-visit/yongin-giheung-kalguksu-jangwongap-family-visit-20-ighqb-900.webp)

### How the noodles taste at each cooking time

- Chewiness on first bite (6 minutes)
- Springiness that grows with chewing (7 minutes)
- A pleasant bounciness (8 minutes)
- A softness that soaks up the broth (9 minutes)
- Smoothness going down the throat (10 minutes)

According to the detail page, Jangwongap uses self-made noodles kneaded a thousand times based on a 60-year-old noodle-making tradition. When I lifted it out of the broth, it stretched like cheese — apparently that's why they also call it 'cheese noodle.'

Maybe because it's self-made, the broth soaked well into the noodles and was great to eat, and the Uiseong garlic kimchi paired well with the kalguksu too. It's a geotjeori (freshly made kimchi) style, which suited the kalguksu. There's a description of the kimchi too, saying it's made fresh three times a day using the store's secret broth from natural ingredients and domestic Uiseong garlic. Every dish in the restaurant has a story with detailed explanations, so knowing about it made it taste even better.

## Finishing with perilla oil kkakdugi fried rice and misugaru slush

After eating the meat shabu-shabu style, then the brisket, minari, and mushrooms, and then the kalguksu, we finished the meal with perilla oil kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice. Eating through it course by course like this made the meal both hearty and delicious.

On the way out after the meal, there's a misugaru (roasted grain powder) slush and traditional snacks set up, which was a nice way to wrap things up.

This self-made-noodle restaurant is a great pick near Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung, and works as a Gomae-dong hotspot and a Giheung, Yongin kalguksu hotspot.
