## Why did I need a phone stand while working?

While working on a computer at the office, I often check work messages and email notifications on my phone. When I left it flat on my desk, the screen was hard to see and I sometimes missed notifications, and picking it up and putting it down every time was inconvenient too. My set included the black stand, two metal rings, and a hex wrench. The rings came in silver and blue, so I attached one each to my work phone and personal phone. This is how you can use it with a smartphone or case that does not have MagSafe functionality, too.

I used it in portrait orientation for video calls and rotated it to landscape for videos. Being able to adjust the angle at both joints made it easy to find a viewing angle for each situation.

## How do you adjust it to support a phone securely?

There was almost no assembly needed, and I could use it straight out of the box. I did need to adjust the joint tension, though. If it is too loose, the phone’s weight can make it droop; if it is too tight, changing the angle becomes difficult.

I used the included hex wrench to make a few adjustments and find the right tension, and I have used it that way ever since. In my use, the weighty metal base supported it steadily, and the magnet in the round top pad held my phone securely. The part that touches the phone is made of soft silicone.

## How were the design and finish on my desk?

The black unit I chose has a fully matte finish. Fingerprints did not show up easily during use, and its simple form made it easy enough to keep on my desk.
