## In short

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) Chinese restaurant on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi, near Misa Cycle Park. After an evening walk, the writer and her mother shared the seafood abalone rice soup (20,000 won) and the chili shrimp (32,000 won), which arrived as 12 pieces in three rows of four, and watched a staff member pour the broth and scorched rice into the dedicated pot at the table. With a tidy self-serve banchan bar and free on-site parking, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang is a place she would book again for a family gathering.

On the weekend, my mom and I went for an evening walk to Misa Cycle Park in Hanam, and while looking for a place to eat, we happened to stumble onto O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang, a restaurant famous for nurungjitang (scorched rice soup). I'd had it occasionally at regular Chinese restaurants before, but eating it at a place that puts the dish right in its name — well, a specialist really is different. It turned out to be a super satisfying family meal. Here's my review.

## Where O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa is: hours and parking

![Exterior of the single-story restaurant on Misa-daero in Hanam](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-03-gwbjn-900.webp)

The restaurant we visited that day was a single-story spot near Misa Cycle Park, open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:20 PM — convenient for both lunch and dinner.

![The restaurant's dedicated ground-level parking lot](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-04-1ppp1-900.webp)

![Free parking space beside the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-05-36d92-900.webp)

If you drive, there's a large dedicated ground-level parking lot with space in front, behind, and on the side, and it's free for the entire duration of your meal, no separate parking fee.

## Inside the restaurant: atmosphere and seating

![Clean, well-designed interior dining hall](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-06-7i2s4-864.webp)

![Spacious interior with a wide aisle for the serving cart](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-07-1pkot-900.webp)

Walking in, you're greeted by a clean, well-designed dining hall. There's a wide central aisle for the serving cart to pass through, which makes the dining space feel relatively open and comfortable — I thought it'd be great for a Hanam family gathering.

![Window-side table with partitions for four people](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-08-wpufb-900.webp)

![Joined tables set up for group seating](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-09-o8az3-900.webp)

There were window-side tables with partitions, good for parties of four, and also several tables joined together for larger groups — it felt perfect for a work dinner too.

![Open-style kitchen visible to diners](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-10-v1p4k-900.webp)

The kitchen is open-style, so guests can see the cooking happening right in front of them. Being able to see with your own eyes how hygienically it's managed made me think it'd be a good place to bring parents or older relatives too.

## Menu and prices: what we ordered

![Table touchscreen ordering menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-11-8jms0-900.webp)

Ordering was easy through the touchscreen installed at each table — fully contactless.

As a nurungjitang specialist, the signature menu includes the best-selling seafood abalone rice soup (₩20,000) as well as the basic seafood rice soup (₩18,000), varying by ingredients. Since it's also a Chinese restaurant, there were plenty of sides to choose from too, like raw tenderloin tangsuyuk (mini) (₩20,000) and chili shrimp (₩32,000), which made choosing easy. Since there were two of us, we decided to order the signature seafood abalone rice soup (₩20,000) and the chili shrimp (₩32,000), one each.

## The self-serve banchan bar and aprons

![Self-serve aprons available at the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-12-9p0el-900.webp)

The restaurant had self-serve aprons available, so we could each freely grab one and put it on.

![Basic banchan delivered by serving robot](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-13-17rp7-900.webp)

![A spread of seasonal namul, pa-kimchi and other banchan](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-14-mbywu-966.webp)

A serving robot brought out the basic banchan (side dishes): seasonal namul, dried radish with squid jeotgal, dongchimi (radish water kimchi), cabbage salad with black sesame dressing, pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), and baek-kimchi (white kimchi) — a tasty, tidy spread like you'd find at a proper Korean set-meal restaurant.

![Self-serve bar for refilling banchan](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-15-1d4ow-900.webp)

![Fresh kimchi and oranges at the self-serve bar](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-16-pa3xz-900.webp)

For reference, you can help yourself to as much of any banchan as you like from the self-serve bar, and there was also fresh kimchi not listed above, plus oranges that would be good for dessert later.

## Seafood abalone rice soup, 20,000 won, poured into the pot at the table

![Seafood abalone rice soup being poured into its dedicated pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-17-1tazo-900.webp)

![A pot of seafood abalone rice soup full of seafood](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-18-16paq-900.webp)

The main dish I'd call a truly excellent find near Misa Cycle Park, the seafood abalone rice soup, made its appearance — the staff member poured the soup and scorched rice into the dedicated pot right at the table, an eye-pleasing little show that added to the fun. Ingredients included cuttlefish, abalone, shrimp and other seafood, plus bok choy, broccoli, roasted ginkgo nuts, and even ginseng — generous enough to call it a proper health tonic dish.

![Rice soup scooped into a small plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-19-133dz-900.webp)

It was easy to share since they gave us separate small plates. It's already seasoned, so all you have to do is scoop and eat — and honestly, with every bite, that distinctive nutty scorched-rice flavor filled my mouth. It really was a treat.

The variety of seafood in every bite made for a satisfying meal, and my mom, who came with me, was completely delighted!

![A plate of plump chili shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-21-kz73k-900.webp)

## Chili shrimp, 32,000 won: is 12 pieces enough for two?

Next up, the chili shrimp (₩32,000) we ordered as a cooked dish — plump, meat-packed shrimp that were honestly a visual shock! With 3 rows of 4 for a total of 12 pieces, the portion felt really generous.

![Chili shrimp arranged in 3 rows of 4, 12 pieces total](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang/hanam-misa-gyeongjeong-park-nurungji-tang-22-1r9hy-900.webp)

No need to elaborate on the crispy-outside-juicy-inside texture — the batter was crispy to the point of making a crunch you could hear, and the plump shrimp meat inside paired beautifully with the chili sauce. It was the kind of dish that calls for a drink.

To finish, we grabbed some oranges from the self-serve bar for a refreshing, happy end to the meal.

## Verdict: is it a good spot for a family gathering?

As a nurungjitang specialist in Hanam where we could have a family gathering in a refined, not-too-loud atmosphere, with banchan served as neatly as at a Korean set-meal restaurant and a main dish substantial enough to count as a health tonic, this is a spot near Misa Cycle Park I'd definitely want to revisit.
