## In short

Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom is a jjambbong (spicy noodle soup) restaurant on Godeokbuk-ro in Godeok-myeon, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. An order of Gobul Jjambbong at 13,000 won and a small tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) at 15,000 won brought a meat-heavy spicy broth with a faint smoky finish, plus a self-serve corner of kimchi, onion and pickled radish. For a rich jjambbong built on meat rather than seafood, the Gobul Jjambbong and tangsuyuk pairing at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom is the order to get.

I visited Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom (장수짬뽕전문점) in Godeok, Pyeongtaek craving a spicy bowl of jjambbong.

The name itself announces its identity as a jjambbong specialist, which caught my eye since I'm a fan of the dish. I ordered what looked like the signature menu item, Gobul Jjambbong, along with a small tangsuyuk to go with it.

## Where is Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom, and is there parking?

The restaurant sits right on the roadside, so the sign was easy to spot. There's space set aside in front for parking, making it fairly convenient to visit by car, and potted plants near the entrance gave it the friendly feel of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant.

## Is the dining room spacious and clean?

Stepping inside, the space was bigger and cleaner than I expected. Several tables were set up with enough room between seats that it wasn't too cramped, making for a comfortable meal.

It felt like a place you could visit solo for a bowl of jjambbong or bring the whole family without any pressure. When looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Godeok, Pyeongtaek, the space matters as much as the food, and this one was well organized overall.

## Menu and prices at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom

The menu had a wide range of dishes, including ganjjajang (black bean noodles), old-style jjambbong, fried rice, meat jjambbong, Gobul Jjambbong, and oyster jjambbong.

There were also fried dumplings and tangsuyuk, good options for sharing with a group. We ordered the Gobul Jjambbong for 13,000 won and the small tangsuyuk for 15,000 won.

### Self-serve side dishes: kimchi, onion and pickled radish

Side dishes come from a self-serve corner set up on one side of the restaurant. Kimchi, onion, and pickled radish were neatly arranged by type, so it was easy to take just what you'd eat. If you ran out mid-meal, you could go back for more without any awkwardness, which was convenient.

## Gobul Jjambbong, 13,000 won: a meat-heavy spicy broth

The Gobul Jjambbong arrived first, and the sight of it filling the large bowl was striking on its own. Meat and green onion were piled generously over a deep red, rich-looking broth, making it look hearty just from a glance.

It's built around meat rather than the usual seafood jjambbong, so if you like a heavier style of jjambbong, this one should suit you well.

The broth was spicy with a deep flavor coming through from the meat. The green onion added a refreshing note to the soup, and a subtle smoky flavor brought out the taste even more.

Eating the noodles together with the toppings, the spicy broth clung naturally to each bite, giving it real presence. Rather than being simply hot, the savory depth from the meat kept me spooning up the broth again and again.

There was plenty of meat too, making it feel much more filling than a jjambbong that's mostly noodles. Alternating between the spicy broth and tender meat was enjoyable, and one bowl alone was quite satisfying. If you're searching for a good jjambbong restaurant in Godeok and want one built around meat rather than seafood, the Gobul Jjambbong is worth a look.

## How is the small tangsuyuk at 15,000 won?

The small tangsuyuk we ordered alongside also came in a fairly generous portion. Pieces fried to a good bite-sized size were topped with sauce and served with cabbage. The batter wasn't too thick and paired well with the meat, so it was easy to keep reaching for more.

Tangsuyuk on its own let you enjoy the savory crunch of the fried batter, and dipping it lightly in the soy sauce added a salty note for a different feel. The sauced portions were moist and enjoyable, while the pieces with less sauce stayed crispier. Eating it with the cabbage added a nice crunchy texture too.

### Jjambbong plus tangsuyuk: the right order for two

Pairing a bite of tangsuyuk with the spicy Gobul Jjambbong worked especially well. The tangsuyuk mellowed the heat of the jjambbong, making it easy to alternate between the two dishes. If you're visiting with one other person, ordering the jjambbong and small tangsuyuk to share is a solid combination.

I left Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom full and satisfied, with the rich meaty broth and subtle smoky flavor of the Gobul Jjambbong and the tangsuyuk that paired so well with it standing out.

The restaurant was clean and the self-serve side dish corner was well set up, making for an easy, comfortable meal. If you're looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Pyeongtaek or Godeok, it's worth stopping by for the spicy Gobul Jjambbong and tangsuyuk combo.
