I visited Manjok Ohyang Jokbal Jamsil Sincheon Branch (만족오향족발 잠실신천점), a famous jokbal spot in Jamsilsaenae. Manjok Ohyang Jokbal has been carrying on its jokbal tradition since 1989. It is especially known as one of Seoul's three great jokbal places and was reportedly selected for the Michelin Guide Seoul Bib Gourmand for seven consecutive years, from 2017 through 2023, so I went in with high expectations.

## A lively, bustling dining room

Inside, it had that lively, bustling atmosphere typical of a jokbal restaurant. It felt great for dinner with friends and perfectly fine for visiting in a group, too!

## Half-and-half jokbal and tray noodles, medium set

We ordered the half-and-half jokbal + tray noodles (medium) set for ₩52,000.

The spread was generous from the start. Five-spice jokbal, five-spice spicy jokbal, seasoned shredded radish, white kimchi, pickled radish wraps, ssamjang, cabbage, salted shrimp, rice-cake dumpling soup, wrap vegetables, and tray makguksu (buckwheat noodles) filled the whole table—it looked filling just to look at, haha.

Put the jokbal on this plate. I thought it was so neat that heat rose from it, keeping the jokbal warm until the end.

## Alternating between five-spice jokbal and spicy jokbal

Tray makguksu is something you simply cannot leave out when eating jokbal! Its spicy, tangy flavor cuts through the richness of the meat perfectly. It was much tastier to have a bite of tray noodles alongside it than to keep eating only jokbal.

The five-spice jokbal was incredibly tender and clean-tasting, with a subtle spice aroma, so it was great as the classic option. The spicy jokbal had a spicy seasoning that gave it a distinctly different charm. Personally, alternating between the two was the tastiest way to eat it.

I asked for the spicy jokbal sauce separately and dipped the meat in it.

The set was a huge amount for two people. There was enough for three people, too.
