Just as the long, hot summer was passing, the evenings had become quite cool. There is a kalguksu place in Jangyu that comes to mind whenever a gentle breeze blows. Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu in Yulha! The price is friendly, and the dongjuk clams are tender and delicious, so I kept thinking about it.

## Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu in Jangyu Yulha: Location and Interior

Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is located in Jangyu Yulha. It opens at 10 a.m., closes at 9 p.m., and last orders are at 8 p.m.! It really reminded me once again how many great restaurants there are in Jangyu Yulha.

The interior is quite spacious, so I thought it would be good for family meals, eating out, or even company dinners.

These days, I often go out not only for barbecue but also for a simple, delicious bowl of kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), you know? Back when I was working, nobody had time in the evening, so we would go out for team lunches instead. For a restaurant this good, it is definitely worth a visit, right?

## Table Ordering and a Simple Menu

Each table has a table-ordering system, so ordering is easy. There are just three menu items: dongjuk clam kalguksu, Onaksae seafood pajeon (scallion pancake), and dongjuk clam soup! You know how truly good restaurants usually have a neat, focused menu instead of a jumble of this and that, right? Hahaha.

## Self-Service Bar and Children's Utensils

After ordering, you can find disposable aprons for anyone wearing light-colored clothes. There is also a helpful notice on the utensil holder saying not to eat clams that have not opened.

The self-service bar is divided into customer and staff sections, and the section on the right is for customers. You can refill side dishes whenever you need to. If I had to pick one detail I personally loved, it would be the lids over the refill dishes! Usually, when you go for refills, the lids are left wide open, so bits can get in while someone is serving another side dish, or dust can settle on them. It made me feel that they manage things more hygienically here.

They also have children's spoons and forks, so keep that in mind if you are visiting with little ones!

## Kimchi and Two Servings of Dongjuk Clam Kalguksu

They brought out the basic side dishes first. This place is great for kimchi too! As you would expect from a good kalguksu restaurant in Jangyu, the kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) were so delicious. I think kimchi has to make up a huge part of a good bowl of kalguksu, and this kimchi was nicely ripened, spicy, and tasty.

The two servings of dongjuk clam kalguksu were quite substantial, right? They arrive in a large bowl, and the portion is enormous. Oh, and when ordering, you can choose whether to add or leave out Cheongyang chili peppers. When you visit with kids, you would order it without them, right?

Then you can bring separately chopped Cheongyang chili peppers from the self-service bar and add them to your own bowl for a spicy, delicious kick. I loved that the child could enjoy it their way while I could have mine nice and spicy.

![Dongjuk clam kalguksu meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangyu-yulha-clam-noodle-rice/jangyu-yulha-clam-noodle-rice-16-1gxp2-900.webp)

Those who love clams will know this, but the dongjuk clams were so fresh. They said not to eat unopened clams, but every single clam opened beautifully and looked fresh. They were also thoroughly cleaned, with no grit left in the mouth, so I was satisfied!

Even just picking out and eating the dongjuk clams one by one, I had such a delicious meal, just as you would expect from a great kalguksu restaurant in Jangyu. It is affordable and excellent value, so you will probably find yourself stopping by often.

## Stirring Free Rice into the Broth

Steamed rice is provided free of charge. It is nice to give some to a child when you visit together, and stirring rice into the kalguksu broth is one of the delicious ways to enjoy it, you know?

The kalguksu alone is already very filling, but the broth is so refreshing that I think you really have to stir in rice before leaving to enjoy it properly. A bowl of rice in the broth, topped with kimchi—gone in no time.

## Onaksae Seafood Pajeon Packed with Seafood

The Onaksae seafood pajeon was great because it was loaded with seafood. It was not just a few pieces placed on top—there was plenty of squid, octopus, and shrimp, so every slice of pancake came with a real taste of seafood.

You can choose a sauce and dip it in. They give you soy sauce, chojang (sweet-tangy chili sauce), and wasabi; for my taste, soy sauce suited it best. The underside was crisp, and every bite was full of seafood, making it fun to eat too.

If you are craving the refreshing taste of clams and a crisp pajeon packed with seafood, I recommend Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu in Jangyu Yulha :)
