## In short

Ppong Sashimi is a Japanese sashimi restaurant in Jungang-dong 4-ga, Jung-gu, Busan, an 11-minute walk from Busan Station. A family of three reserved the Assorted Sashimi B Course at 60,000 won per person and worked through the sashimi platter, seafood platter, tuna platter, sukiyaki, grilled dishes, egg rice and cod clear soup in 1 hour 20 minutes. The private seating and the cod clear soup broth were the family's top picks of the whole course.

Today I want to introduce a Japanese restaurant I loved during my Busan trip — "Ppong Sashimi" near Nampo-dong and Jungang-dong Station. I had the assorted sashimi course and the lineup was so generous and delicious that I really want to recommend it to anyone thinking about having sashimi in Busan.

Here's my review of the ₩60,000-per-person Assorted Sashimi B Course ❤️

## Where is Ppong Sashimi, and what are its hours and parking?

Whenever I'm in Busan I feel like I have to eat sashimi at least once, right? I originally thought about eating near Haeundae, but the prices there felt way overpriced and I couldn't find a great spot, so after some searching I found "Ppong Sashimi." It's an 11-minute walk from Busan Station and very close to the Commodore Hotel Busan where we stayed, so we ended up going — and it was a satisfying choice 👍🏻 Easy for travelers to reach, and there's a public parking lot right near the building so no need to worry about parking.

## What is on the menu at Ppong Sashimi?

![Ppong Sashimi's menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-03-9yysx-900.webp)

Here's the menu. Besides the lunch special and special lunch, there's also sushi and takeout options, plus set platters and course meals. What I ordered today was the ₩60,000-per-person Assorted Sashimi Course.

They take group bookings, and every menu item is available for takeout!

## Is the seating at Ppong Sashimi private?

The interior had a cozy, warm feel that really reminded me of Japan.

![Private seating with curtains and a sliding door](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-06-1tsx6-900.webp)

Each table had curtains and sliding doors, so every seat felt private. We were on a rare family trip together, and I really loved being able to enjoy the meal fully as just our family.

The restroom was located inside the restaurant.

## Ordering the Assorted Sashimi B Course (60,000 won each) for three

![Plate of Korean beef tartare and cold jerky](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-11-xcjn3-900.webp)

We had booked in advance, so the table was already set the moment we arrived, and the food kept coming out right on cue. Even though our family eats pretty fast, the whole course still took about 1 hour 20 minutes. We got three kinds of sushi (one each), white kimchi, braised burdock (I think?), semi-dried squid, cold jerky, salad, Japanese-style rolled egg, marinated shrimp, and Korean beef tartare. The braised burdock especially had a spicy kick that paired perfectly with the sashimi, and the rolled egg had that sweet Japanese-style flavor. The Korean beef tartare — seriously, highly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻

### First up: the sashimi platter and seafood platter

As soon as we arrived, they brought out the assorted sashimi platter and the seafood platter ❤️

![Assorted sashimi platter of red seabream, flounder, and salmon](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-13-16seq-900.webp)

The assorted sashimi was made up of red seabream, flounder, and salmon. The plating was so pretty it felt almost a shame to eat it! The cuts were thick, so you could really feel that chewy, satisfying texture with every bite.

![Seafood platter with abalone, conch, cuttlefish, octopus wasabi, and sea squirt](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-14-1ars4-900.webp)

The seafood platter had abalone, conch, cuttlefish, octopus wasabi, and sea squirt, and the octopus wasabi was especially on point. That sharp, spicy kick was the best 👍🏻 Everything overall was fresh and sweet with no fishy taste at all. My mom and I don't usually eat sea squirt, but my sister who does said it wasn't fishy at all and tasted deliciously sweet!

![Individual servings of seaweed soup and abalone porridge](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-15-igj0e-900.webp)

They served each of us our own seaweed soup and abalone porridge! The seaweed soup had just the right punchy flavor that kept me coming back for more, and the abalone porridge was mild and comforting, like it was gently warming up your stomach.

![A piece of sashimi topped with burdock and wasabi](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-16-goz4w-900.webp)

Topping the sashimi with the spicy burdock and a bit of wasabi was such a perfect combo! We were happily munching away when... the second course began ❤️

### Second course: the tuna platter

![Tuna platter served with sesame oil sauce and seaweed](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-17-25h45-900.webp)

Next, they cleared our finished dishes into smaller plates and brought out the tuna platter, which thoughtfully came with sesame oil sauce and seaweed! The tuna was rich and melted in your mouth, absolutely delicious 👍🏻 I had been torn between ordering the assorted sashimi set or the tuna set, and went with the assorted sashimi set — and I was so satisfied that tuna was included in it too.

![Close-up of the tuna sashimi plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-18-1xzxv-900.webp)

### Sukiyaki and the grilled dishes

Right around the time we were finishing the tuna, the grilled dishes and sukiyaki arrived.

![Sukiyaki pot served alongside grilled dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-19-cmopj-900.webp)

The sukiyaki had a slightly sweet flavor, loaded with meat and toppings like bean sprouts, ginkgo nuts, mushrooms, tofu, and chives — really packed full.

![Scallop cheese gratin and butter-grilled abalone](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-20-9oic8-900.webp)

![Cheese-grilled dish and a soy-sauce-glazed grilled head](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-21-1k2ht-900.webp)

We each got a scallop cheese gratin, a butter-grilled abalone, and a cheese-grilled lobster(?) too. There was also a grilled head dish brushed with a slightly sweet butter-soy sauce! By this point, I was already really full.

### Finishing with egg rice and cod clear soup (daegu jiri-tang)

![Egg rice and cod clear soup at the end of the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-22-1gr5t-900.webp)

Finally, to fill us up for good, they brought out egg rice and cod clear soup. The egg rice had a slightly sweet flavor, so I'd recommend removing some of the toppings before mixing! I was honestly so full I only managed one bite of the egg rice, but the cod clear soup was surprisingly delicious even though I was already stuffed. My whole family ranked the cod clear soup as the number one dish of the meal — the broth was so refreshing that even my mom, who doesn't drink, considered having a soju with it.

![Fried shrimp with a crispy, coconut-like batter](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-23-1q4i3-900.webp)

The fried shrimp had a crispy coating like coconut breading on the outside, which made the texture even better!

![Plum tea served at the end of the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course/bbong-sashimi-busan-family-course-24-cevj8-900.webp)

To finish, we had plum tea that helps with digestion, haha. Sweet, cool, and rich — it made me want another cup :)

## Is the B course at Ppong Sashimi worth it?

The Assorted Sashimi B Course at Ppong Sashimi has such a generous lineup, and every single dish was such high quality that the whole family enjoyed it. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a sashimi restaurant near Busan Station.
