The weather's been perfect lately, so my friends and I finally got together for a proper drinking session! We're all pretty picky eaters, so we went looking for somewhere with genuinely delicious anju (drinking snacks) and a nice vibe, and found a bar near Jeongja Station that's been getting hot lately. I searched for bars near Jeongja-dong on my phone and visited — 200% satisfied. This is Bacha Jeongja. ## Where is Bacha Jeongja, and what are the terrace seats like? Bacha Jeongja sits in the Jeongja Station dining alley, with outdoor terrace seating right out front. Soft, upscale lighting greeted us the moment we arrived. The breeze was so nice we wanted to sit outside anyway, and with the greenery right there, it was perfect. The moment the pot arrived, piled high and nearly overflowing with seafood, everyone grabbed their phones to take photos. 😲 > Plump, fresh scallops, chunky squid, mussels, shrimp, plus fresh bok choy, bean sprouts, and fish cake skewers on skewers — the portion was seriously generous. Being sourced directly, there was zero fishy taste — the seafood was plump, springy, and sweet. Which meant the broth was absolutely incredible. As time passed, the broth deepened with flavor from the seafood and vegetables, and one sip made me crave soju instantly. When the dish arrives, staff perform a little show, torching the surface of the meat with an open flame until it's golden brown. Every pass of the flame released a smoky aroma and sizzling sound that seriously got our mouths watering. 🔥 Maybe because it's cooked sous-vide, the pork jowl had that signature chewy-yet-tender texture that just melted in the mouth. The outside had real charred flavor from the torch, while the inside stayed juicy. Topped with the spicy-tangy chive salad and a touch of wasabi, the richness was cut perfectly, leaving only savory goodness.
