## In short

Moknal is a Korean-style bar on the 3rd floor of a building facing Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan, and it has held the same spot since long before Gwangalli became a hotspot. Arriving already full from a first round elsewhere, the writer kept things light at Moknal with beef tataki and a bottle of Jinro soju, and even with the window seats taken, the floor-to-ceiling glass still framed Gwangan Bridge. Moknal works well as a second-round bar when you want retro neighborhood-bar character plus a night view.

## Where is Moknal in Gwangalli, and how late does it stay open?

Moknal is a Korean-style bar in Suyeong, Busan, at 191 Gwangan-haebyeon-ro, on the 3rd floor of a building right across from Gwangalli Beach. It's open Mon–Fri 17:00 to 05:00 the next day, and Sat–Sun 16:00 to 05:00, so there's plenty of time for a second or even third round.

![Location and business hours info for Moknal](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-02-1hnpn-966.webp)

There are a handful of spots that have held their ground since before Gwangalli became the full-on hot spot it is now, and Moknal is one of the bars I've known since my twenties — here's my write-up after finally going back after a long time.

![Exterior of the building housing Moknal, facing Gwangan-haebyeon-ro beach](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-03-12ags-m-966.webp)

![Stairway up to the 3rd floor where Moknal is located](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-04-tn0p3-m-966.webp)

As a solid second-round bar for Gwangalli, Moknal is on the 3rd floor of a building right in front of the beach, so the view is basically guaranteed. Apparently Jo Woo-jong went on a date with Jung Da-eun here on Dongsang Imong (a Korean TV show) — I only found that out walking up to the 3rd floor. It really is a view-restaurant kind of place, haha.

The window seats were already full. Fair enough, everyone's here for the night view — good for them, hah. Now that I'm in my mid-thirties I've become the kind of auntie who's reached enlightenment about everything.

## Moknal's menu: what to order for a second round

Moknal's menu is wide-ranging, from side dishes to soups to skewers. Since we'd already eaten a lot in our first round, we kept it simple and just ordered beef tataki and Jinro soju.

![Moknal's side dish menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-07-jwze7-966.webp)

![Moknal's soup and skewer menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-08-1tot2-966.webp)

The menu at Moknal, which is a real night-view gem in Gwangalli, is huge. There are side dishes like grilled squid, stir-fried chicken gizzards with vegetables, fried shrimp, and seasonal fruit, plus soup dishes like fish cake soup, pollack roe soup, clam soup, and bulgogi mushroom hot pot. Skewers had plenty of options too — garlic, heart, ginkgo nut, king oyster mushroom, chicken skin, chicken wing, pork belly roll.

Isn't this basically perfect for a second round? From heavy to light, they've got soju and beer of course, plus a fairly wide selection of sake, junmai, and daiginjo, so it seemed like a great place for a group to order a bit of everything. Since we were already full from round one, we kept it simple — beef tataki and Jinro!

![Edamame and crackers served as the basic side dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-10-xiaff-966.webp)

The basic side dishes were edamame and crackers. These days Gwangalli has so many stylish new bars popping up, but Moknal has its own comfortable, slightly retro atmosphere.

Sipping Jinro and half-imagining I was back in my twenties.

### Gwangan Bridge views from Moknal even when the window seats are full

Since Moknal has a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, even sitting at a table a bit away from the window still gives you a good view of Gwangan Bridge. The window seats were already full when we got there, but it wasn't much of a letdown.

![Night view of Gwangan Bridge through Moknal's floor-to-ceiling window](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-13-1mtbn-966.webp)

## How was the beef tataki at Moknal?

Moknal's beef tataki had a surface that was lightly seared and savory, while the inside stayed moist with the juices well preserved. It came with a generous pile of thinly sliced onion and sprouts, so piling plenty of onion and sauce onto each slice of tataki made it taste clean without any greasiness.

Eating it like this with the onion, nom nom. Can you see how it's glistening with juices? A place that's both a Gwangalli view spot and genuinely good food.

![Soju enjoyed alongside the beef tataki](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-16-2256n-966.webp)

We immediately ordered one more bottle of soju.

![An extra bottle of soju placed on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-17-14h0f-966.webp)

Looked at like this, it's a retro neighborhood bar.

![Interior of Moknal with its retro atmosphere](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-18-5x85i-966.webp)

![Gwangalli night view with the palm tree area visible](https://img.superchart.com/images/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat/mongnal-gwangalli-beef-tataki-window-seat-19-11lai-966.webp)

But turn your head to the left and there's this gorgeous Gwangalli view. It's a spot with palm trees, so it's so, so, so pretty. Surviving in the same spot for such a long time? That's strength. There must be a good reason for it!!

## What kind of night is Moknal best for?

Moknal is a great place to visit when you want to relax with a drink while looking at Gwangalli's ocean, or when you want something light after a heavier first round, paired with a soju.

- Wide range of options from light side dishes to heavy ones
- Sells not just soju but beer, sake, and highballs too
- You can see the night sea and Gwangan Bridge together, making it good for a date or a second-round spot with friends

It brought back old memories and gave me a proper view — I'd recommend Moknal, a Gwangalli bar with a great view.
