Over lunch with her mother-in-law and a friend, the writer ordered two wood-fired grilled mackerel sets at 13,500 won each and one braised mackerel with bracken set at 14,500 won, then added tteokbokki and sungnyung from the free self bar. It's near both Yeouido and Saetgang stations, but coming from Saetgang Station is faster! Even though it was a slightly late lunch, I was surprised how many people were there. With tables ranging from 4-tops to 6–8-tops, it seems perfect for a group get-together too. You just scoop as much as you want and bring it to your table! Right next to it is the basic side dish refill corner — once you finish what came with your meal, you go grab more yourself ( ๑˃̶ ꇴ ˂̶)♪⁺ Very generous. Good enough to sell for money at a pub!! The moment I saw it, my first thought was 'wow, that's a hefty mackerel.' It came neatly arranged with lettuce, japchae, potato strips, kimchi, and siraegi (dried radish green) soup! As mentioned above, sides can be refilled at the self-bar ( ๑˃̶ ꇴ ˂̶)♪⁺ The japchae was so good I think I went back for thirds... lol. Tender flesh inside. Smoky flavor had soaked all the way through — so good. The hot pot was huge. Not a single-serving size at all, lol. Same basic side dishes! There was more bracken hidden inside than expected, so my mother-in-law and I kept sneaking bits from her bowl. The broth was spicy and rich enough to finish 2–3 bowls of rice easily. It was packed with nurungji (scorched rice) — enough that chewing it made my jaw a little sore... A great finish overall ★ ## Is this Yeouido lunch worth it? Final verdict - Neatly plated set meals that suit all ages - Unlimited side dish and rice refills were amazing (no environmental fee charged either) - Loved the thoughtful touch of tteokbokki and sungnyung - The fish stayed smoky and flavorful all the way through - Lots of neighborhood locals, which boosted my trust in the place My mother-in-law and Gomi both raved about how delicious it was, saying they left full and happy at that price!! As a local myself, I think I'll be craving this again. Next time I want to try the atka mackerel (Atka mackerel grill).
