The Songjeong area has so many good places to eat. That day, there was a chilly autumn breeze in the air~ so I was craving something hot and spicy. Naturally, I settled on jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup).

Songjeong tends to get crowded on weekends and at mealtimes, so it seems best to visit with some time to spare. I also saw quite a few reviews saying there was a wait at lunchtime.

It was weekday lunch, so we got in right away with no wait. Its spot near Songjeong Beach also made it easy to find. It is a decent location if you are looking for somewhere to eat around Songjeong Beach.

There is parking in front of the restaurant, and reviews say there is a separate parking area as well, so it is fairly convenient to visit by car. Once I stepped inside, the restaurant was much larger than it looked from outside.

There were several tables, and the overall atmosphere was good for a meal with a group too. With a spacious interior and relatively generous spacing between tables, it would work well for a family meal or group visit. More than anything, I liked that it felt like a clean place to eat rather than having that typically hectic Chinese restaurant feeling.

## Adding octopus to the crunchy tangsuyuk set

> Songjeong Dol Jjamppong
> Crunchy tangsuyuk set
> Jjamppong + added octopus

Songjeong Dol Jjamppong plus the crunchy tangsuyuk (sweet and sour fried pork) set. Since there were two of us, it felt a little disappointing to have only jjamppong, so we ordered the set that comes with crunchy tangsuyuk. And I added one more thing here. I like seafood in my jjamppong, so I added octopus.

## How long does stone-plate jjamppong stay hot?

Stone-plate jjamppong bubbling away on the stone plate. As soon as the jjamppong arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was, of course, the stone plate. Instead of a typical jjamppong bowl, the red broth came in a huge stone plate—and it was still bubbling after it was set on the table!! There was also a mountain of bean sprouts on top. At first, there were so many bean sprouts that you could barely see the jjamppong??

Look at the crunchy tangsuyuk, true to its generously sized pieces of meat, and the jjamppong on that stone plate. The appeal of stone-plate jjamppong is how long it stays hot!! Personally, that lasting heat was what I liked most while eating.

With jjamppong, the broth can get cold by the time you eat slowly toward the end, but because this one came on a stone plate, it stayed warm throughout the meal. The broth does cook down, though, so if the broth matters to you, it is best to transfer some to a plate first. The broth had a clean flavor.

## Crispy crunchy tangsuyuk and broth that cooks down

Crispy crunchy tangsuyuk. It arrived piled high on the plate and looked quite appetizing. The batter was nicely golden and crisp. When I actually tried it, the crunchiness really came through, just as the name promised. A chopstickful of jjamppong, then one piece of tangsuyuk; tangsuyuk, then another bite of spicy jjamppong.

As the bean sprouts softened, the noodles started to appear. The added octopus caught my eye too. Adding octopus definitely gave it a more generous seafood feel.

Because it kept boiling, the broth gradually cooked down over time. I first had plenty of broth and noodles, then enjoyed the flavor becoming more concentrated as I went on. It is certainly different from typical broth-heavy jjamppong, so I think it would suit anyone looking for a different kind of jjamppong in Busan’s Songjeong area.

There was nurungji (scorched rice) on the stone plate, so after finishing the noodles, scraping the plate felt like having jjamppong rice too. That is another appealing way to enjoy Songjeong Dol Jjamppong.

If you are looking for a good place to eat near Songjeong Beach, I recommend this as a menu item jjamppong lovers should try at least once!! In particular, it is a great combination when you want jjamppong that stays hot to the very end on a stone plate rather than ordinary jjamppong, plus added octopus and plenty of crunchy tangsuyuk.
