This time I took my parents out for a family meal at Masan Ssamjangjip. It's right in front of Masan Marine Park (해양누리공원), so parking is easy, and it's a great spot to walk around the park afterward. If you're looking for a family restaurant near Masan to visit with your parents or grandparents, this might be useful. 😊

## Where is Masan Ssamjangjip, and where do you park?

Masan Ssamjangjip is located at 65 Haeandae-ro, 2nd floor, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam, South Korea. Weekdays run 11:00–21:00 with a break from 14:00–17:00, and weekends run 11:00–21:00 with a break from 16:00–17:00. It's closed on Tuesdays.

> On weekends they sometimes close around 6pm once they run out of ingredients. If you're planning a weekend evening visit, I'd recommend checking that day's hours on Naver before heading over!

There's a 3·15 Marine Park (해양누리공원) Lot 1 right in front of Masan Ssamjangjip, which made parking easy. Since the park is right there, it's also nice to take a walk after eating — I'd recommend it as a full family outing course.

Masan Ssamjangjip is on the second floor of the building right across from the marine park lot. You just head into the building and up to the second floor — the sign is big, so it wasn't hard to find! And walking in, what I noticed was… so many customers. 👀 I guess it makes sense that this is a go-to spot for family meals with parents, haha.

The inside was much bigger than it looked from outside! And the atmosphere is really Korean, lol. Rather than the clean, modern hanok-style dining you often see these days, it has a warm, rustic feel that I think parents especially would love.

What I liked most was that they have separate private rooms! Great for a quiet family meal, or for parents' birthdays, family gatherings, or group visits. We ended up thinking we should book a room next time for a proper family gathering, haha.

Besides that, there were a lot of general seats too, so the place felt pretty large overall, and I got in without any wait. We visited around noon on a weekend and it was almost fully booked! But by about 1pm, a fair number of tables had opened up. If you're going for weekend lunch, keep in mind noon is likely the busiest time. The whole layout seems built with family meals and group visits in mind!

### Choosing a weekend lunch at Masan Ssamjangjip

We visited on a weekend lunch, and unfortunately the mackerel set was already sold out, ugh. So we ordered the jeyuk (spicy pork) set for three.

While waiting for the food, there was a salad bar and ramyeon (instant noodle) bar to use. It's a nice setup for a light snack while waiting. The rice cakes here were especially good, lol — soft and chewy, so I kept going back for more.

I briefly considered making some ramyeon too, but seeing what was coming out to the next table stopped me right away. 😂 Because the table was going to be completely full anyway!!

Once the food started coming out, the table filled up fast!! The main jeyuk (spicy pork), doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), buchujeon (chive pancake), tofu salad and more, plus banchan (side dishes) laid out one after another.

What I personally liked most was the flavor of the banchan! Instead of being overly salty or sweet, everything was on the milder, more balanced side, so I kept reaching for more. It wasn't just one or two standout dishes — before I knew it, I was just picking at everything nonstop, lol. It really felt like home cooking with the owner's personal touch.

My favorite combination was wrapping ureong-doenjang (snail miso paste) in a lettuce wrap. A little rice, some jeyuk, and the ureong-doenjang on top, all wrapped in lettuce — one bite and it's like, this is what ssambap (lettuce-wrap rice) is all about!!

There was one dish I tried for the first time here — midodeok-jjim (steamed sea pineapple)! Midodeok has a pretty distinctive smell on its own, but paired with perilla oil, it worked much better than I expected. The nutty aroma of the perilla oil and the unique scent of the midodeok rise together, and since this was my first time trying it, it really stuck with me. I found myself thinking, 'Oh? Was midodeok always this good?' haha.

One thing worth noting though! To me, the jeyuk and doenjang jjigae eaten with the wraps were on the salty side. But once I combined them with the lettuce, rice, and ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), the balance actually worked out.

## Why Masan Ssamjangjip is worth a second family visit

Masan Ssamjangjip was the place I found while looking for a family meal spot in Masan to take my parents. What I liked most was the easy parking and having the marine park right in front. It's not just a meal and done — you can eat and then walk along the sea breeze afterward, which makes it a great choice for a family outing.

Above all, the restaurant is spacious and has private rooms, so I'd recommend it for family gatherings or meals with parents. The food comes out generously covering the whole table, and each side dish has that unpretentious, home-cooked feel, which I found pretty satisfying.
