When I want a gentle, neatly prepared meal with my child near Gwangalli Beach, there is one Korean restaurant that comes to mind first. It is Solsot Gwangalli, an already well-loved pot rice specialist. Two adults and one child visited and happily cleared the sea bream-and-scallop pot rice, steak pot rice, and nutty scorched-rice broth!!

## Location and parking near Gwangalli Beach

It is tucked into an alley one block inland from Gwangalli Beach, in the direction of Geumnyeonsan Station, so it made for a really convenient stop before or after a beach walk.

There is no dedicated parking at the restaurant, so we parked at a nearby private paid lot and walked over. Gwangalli has narrow alleys and lots of foot traffic, so I recommend checking nearby public or paid parking in advance if you are driving.

There is usually a line at dinner and during weekend peak hours, so families visiting with children will find it much easier to arrive a little before the rush, like we did. We actually had no wait when we arrived at 11:30!

## A comfortable interior for dining with a child

As we stepped inside, the calm, neatly finished interior welcomed us. Unlike the lively atmosphere by the sea, it was a comfortable space for a relaxed meal.

The tables were arranged with enough space between them, and the cute Japanese-Korean fusion-style lighting gave the place a clean feel. It was a pleasant setting with everything families like ours needed to sit down and eat comfortably with a child.

## Ordering sea bream-and-scallop and steak pot rice

![Solsot Gwangalli menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-kids-domigwanja-solsot/gwangalli-kids-domigwanja-solsot-08-f8dg9-900.webp)

Looking over the menu, I found a varied selection ranging from premium pot rice to side dishes.

- Main pot rice: sea bream-and-scallop pot rice, steak pot rice, abalone pot rice, freshwater eel pot rice, salmon pot rice, grilled hairtail pot rice, [NEW] lobster shrimp pot rice, and more
- Specialties and sides: pork jowl boiled pork with spicy fresh kimchi, Solsot shabu-shabu, house-made fried shrimp, yuringi, and more

We ordered sea bream-and-scallop pot rice with extra sea bream, steak pot rice, and an extra pot of rice so we could share generously with our child.

## How the sea bream-and-scallop and steak pot rice tasted

Not long after ordering, the pot rice dishes arrived one by one as neatly arranged individual tray meals.

First, the sea bream-and-scallop pot rice I chose came with extra sea bream, so it looked generously topped with fish and scallops from the start. I mixed it well, scooped up a generous bite with rice, and found its light yet nutty flavor even better than I expected.

I have had pot rice in many places, but one bite made it immediately clear why Solsot is so famous and why people line up for it.

There was not even a hint of fishiness—only a nutty richness—so I kept happily scooping it up without feeling weighed down. Mixed lightly with the house soy sauce, it was absolutely delicious. I mixed a piece of the extra sea bream into the extra rice for our child, and I was honestly surprised at how well our child ate it, better than at any other rice restaurant!

My husband’s steak pot rice was also packed with large cubes of beef. Its dedicated steak sauce had that perfect sweet-and-salty balance, with wonderful savory depth. The meat was not tough at all but so tender; our child eagerly ate both the steak and sea bream when I placed them over rice. The banchan (Korean side dishes)—salted seafood, kimchi, salad, and miso soup—also went beautifully with the pot rice.

## Finishing the meal with scorched-rice broth

The highlight of the meal was sungnyung, the scorched-rice tea made by pouring the restaurant’s special broth over the nurungji (crispy scorched rice) left in the pot. This nurungji broth was not plain water but a properly seasoned, savory broth, making it the perfect warm, mildly salty finish in this season when the cool breeze is starting to blow.

Our child seemed to love the scorched rice in this broth too, lifting the bowl and drinking it down with relish.

Convenient nearby parking, a neat and pleasant dining room, and the perfect pairing of lightly nutty sea bream-and-scallop pot rice with sweet-and-salty steak pot rice, without a trace of fishiness!

The flavorful scorched-rice broth at the end let our whole family finish a warm, easy-on-the-stomach meal with great satisfaction. If you are craving a neatly prepared Korean meal in a season like this, when a cool breeze is blowing, stop by Solsot Gwangalli.
