## In short

Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch is a Korean restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, serving individual Korean meals. My eldest and I had hanpan galbi and yukhoe bibimbap, with extra side dishes and soup thoughtfully provided for my child. Verdict: Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch is a lovely choice for a family Korean meal.

## Looking for tteokgalbi in Jeonpo-dong with my child

On a weekday, I got to have a little “skip-kindergarten” date with my eldest~ We had errands in Seomyeon, then headed to Jeonpo-dong, where there are so many good restaurants and cafés. My child had firmly decided they wanted tteokgalbi (grilled minced-meat patties), though—they kept singing the tteokgalbi song!

After searching hard, I found a place with tteokgalbi on the menu that looked suitable to visit with a child, thanks to its clean exterior and interior. I was happy with the neat table setting and kind service, too.

## Parking at Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch

Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch does not have its own parking lot, so you need to use a nearby paid lot. I parked in a commercial-building lot a one- to two-minute walk behind the restaurant. It was the closest one to the restaurant, convenient after parking, and nicely spacious.

Parking cost ₩1,500 for 30 minutes or ₩3,000 for an hour. You can pay the parking fee by card!

Even from the outside, it had the clean, welcoming feel of a Korean restaurant.

## A tidy white-and-wood interior

The interior was tidy and polished in white and wood tones. The warm lighting made it feel cozy, too. There were tables for four, each with a menu ready on it. When we came in, a staff member invited us to sit wherever we felt comfortable.

The water was not just bottled water—they had earthy barley tea, which really made me think, “This is a proper Korean restaurant~”

I heard Hyangtaek began as a Korean restaurant at Gyodong Market in Daegu.

## Single-bowl dishes and the basic table setting

The menu is made up of single-bowl dishes, and every item looked delicious, so I debated for quite a while. There were so many things I wanted to order—I will have to try the other dishes one by one next time.

### Basic table setting

After ordering, the basic setting arrived with salted-fermented squid, gungchae pickles, roasted seaweed, and soup. From the neatly arranged banchan (side dishes) to the orderly tableware, it was an altogether clean presentation. As a homemaker of 10 years, I especially noticed the pretty dishes haha.

I also liked that the savory egg yolk and sauce for the yukhoe bibimbap were served separately, so I could adjust them to my taste.

We ordered yukhoe bibimbap (rice mixed with raw beef) for ₩14,000, hanpan galbi for ₩10,000, and steamed rice for ₩1,000. My child is still young and does not really like wholesome foods such as doenjang or gondre greens, and we came looking for tteokgalbi—so of course I had to order it haha.

## Hanpan galbi that was perfect with my child’s rice

When I ordered steamed rice and the hanpan galbi from the side menu, they thoughtfully brought an extra set of the basic side dishes and soup for my child.

The hanpan galbi was thinly sliced and well grilled, and it felt like a dish made with real care.

It was moist and tender enough to pull apart smoothly with chopsticks—no scissors needed. I simply put piece after piece on my child’s rice, and they were quickly taking spoonfuls of rice. The galbi was nutty and free of any off smell, with such delicious sweet-and-salty seasoning. It was not overly seasoned, so it was really great as a side for my child’s rice.

The soup was mild and clean-tasting rather than intense, so I think it would go well with whichever menu item you order.

## Yukhoe bibimbap with egg yolk and sauce

The yukhoe in the bibimbap was prettily shaped into round little portions, and it already looked generous and appetizing before I even ate it. I felt like I had found a great Korean restaurant in Jeonpo-dong. The beautiful, round yukhoe almost looked too pretty to eat, and there was quite a lot of it.

When I gently lifted the fresh lettuce, I found sweet pear and bean sprouts underneath—bibimbap vegetables that paired so well with the yukhoe.

I added the savory egg yolk and as much sauce as I liked, then enjoyed the meal. The yukhoe was not frozen either; its color alone looked fresh.

The side dishes served with the meal went well alongside the single-bowl yukhoe bibimbap, and even the jeotgal (salted fermented seafood) was not too salty, so it was plenty tasty spooned over the bibimbap, too.

## High chairs and kind service

Seeing the high chair available at the restaurant made me think of my younger child, whom I had left at home.. Next time, I will come back with my younger one and enjoy a delicious meal together.

Even while busy, the staff kindly helped with the Wi-Fi password for my child. From the moment we arrived until after we finished eating, it was a pleasant experience. It also seemed like a comfortable place whether you come alone for lunch or with a group.

I could feel the care in everything from the food to the side dishes, and it tasted even better than I expected, making it somewhere I want to return to. Great flavor, fresh ingredients, and kind service—this is a 200-percent return visit for me.

When you are craving a satisfying Korean meal in Jeonpo-dong, I recommend Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch. It has neat Korean dishes that are good for solo dining and menus that parents, children, friends, and coworkers can all enjoy, in a comfortable space. The staff were kind, too!
