## In short

Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is a shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant near Munhyeon Station in Nam-gu, Busan. Even at an off-peak 2pm, the place was packed for the ₩11,000 red-broth regular-spice set, house-made noodles, seafood pajeon, and kimchi made fresh every morning with domestic napa cabbage. A hearty, satisfying lunch with a wasabi soy dipping ratio guide right at the table.

Do you like shabu-shabu? Grilled meat sizzling on a pan is delicious of course, but shabu-shabu — dunked into a rich broth — is really good too. You end up eating way more vegetables than when you're just grilling meat, so it feels kind of healthy too, haha.

I went to a filling lunch spot near Munhyeon Station in Munhyeon-dong. Let me introduce it.

### Storefront

I visited Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, a great option for anyone looking for a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Munhyeon-dong.

The place was quite spacious.

There were even waiting chairs set up at the entrance.

![Waiting chairs set up at the entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-02-8u446-813.webp)

This shabu-shabu spot in Munhyeon-dong is run by an owner who clearly thought hard about the food before opening. Instead of the mindset that shabu-shabu is just 'cook meat in broth, eat kalguksu, finish with porridge,' the owner sought out a recipe for good kimchi and makes it fresh every morning with domestic napa cabbage. What surprised me even more was that, despite not being a kalguksu specialty shop, they make their own noodles in-house. I thought — there's a reason places do well.

## Packed even at 2pm — the interior and self-serve corner

We visited around 2pm, and even at that in-between hour, there were plenty of customers. I only managed to take photos right before we finished eating and left.

When we walked in around 2, the place was this crowded.

After grabbing a seat, we went to check out the self-serve corner, haha.

There was appetizing seokbakji (radish kimchi) and

the kimchi they said is made fresh every morning with domestic napa cabbage.

![Kimchi and seokbakji at the self-serve corner](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-03-p1nn5-900.webp)

At our table, there was even a guide on how to enjoy the kalguksu the tastiest way.

## Menu and prices — ₩11,000 per person

![Guide to enjoying kalguksu and menu information](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-04-1nso6-900.webp)

Let me walk you through the menu at this Munhyeon-dong lunch spot. First, it's ₩11,000 per person — great value! You choose between red or white broth, haha. We went with the red broth, regular spice. We also ordered a seafood pajeon (savory pancake). If you want more vegetables or mushrooms, you can add them on.

## The table setup — meat, house-made kalguksu, and fried rice porridge

![A full shabu-shabu table setup](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-05-lsooo-900.webp)

Our chosen dishes were ready.

![House-made kalguksu noodles topped with sujebi dough bits](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-06-mppuj-900.webp)

What caught my eye more than the beef was the house-made kalguksu noodles. The sujebi (hand-torn dough bits)? on top looked so pretty, haha.

At this shabu-shabu restaurant in Munhyeon-dong, Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, the meat was also ready. If you need more, you can order extra. We were already so full from everything else that this was plenty, haha.

![Base ingredients included with the shabu-shabu set](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-07-x6bv1-900.webp)

There's so much included as a base for just ₩11,000. At the end, they also serve fried rice porridge? — you make it yourself, self-serve style.

They also give a dedicated soy sauce for the seafood pajeon.

The kimchi and seokbakji, made with real care, were also very tasty.

![Red shabu-shabu broth loaded with vegetables and mushrooms](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-10-4zvih-1200.webp)

The shabu-shabu broth, loaded with vegetables and mushrooms, was ready.

If you're looking for a place in Munhyeon-dong to have a really filling lunch, I hope you come here. Meat, vegetables, mushrooms, then noodles and porridge — you'll be very full by the end. And it tastes great too.

![A pot full of mushrooms and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-11-129yy-900.webp)

They really pile the ingredients into the broth, so you probably won't need to add more, but if you especially love mushrooms, you can pay extra for more.

## How spicy is the red broth's regular spice level?

We waited for the broth to boil and then dropped in the meat, haha.

It's a red broth, but since we chose the regular spice level, it wasn't overly spicy — just a nice, hearty kick. I'd recommend the red broth at regular spice too.

On the side of the table, there's wasabi soy sauce ready to go. I checked the recommended ratio and mixed it up accordingly, haha.

I really enjoyed the meat at this shabu-shabu restaurant in Munhyeon-dong! It was even better because it was so tender.

## The seafood pajeon that arrived midway

The pajeon (savory pancake) arrived while we were eating, haha. It looked great — golden brown and crispy, very appetizing.

It was loaded with green onion and seafood, and just as I expected, crispy and delicious.

## House-made kalguksu noodles and the fried rice finish

Next, we put the house-made kalguksu noodles into the broth.

![House-made kalguksu noodles added to the broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-22-903o4-900.webp)

We waited patiently for it to bubble up nicely, and then

![The kalguksu pot bubbling away](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi/munhyeon-shabu-kalguksu-late-lunch-kimchi-23-1aqkd-900.webp)

gave it a taste — probably because it's house-made, the chewiness really stood out. It was just as good as a dedicated kalguksu specialty shop.

We were already stuffed, but I couldn't skip the fried rice. We poured rice straight into the pot. Figured we'd at least try frying it even if we couldn't finish it, haha.

I wondered if it'd taste good without egg, but it really was delicious, haha.

It was tasty even without the crispy scorched rice bits, haha. We were so full we couldn't scrape the pot clean, but it was plenty delicious. I thought it'd be a great spot to visit with kids too.

## Final thoughts

If you want a hearty meal in Munhyeon-dong, I recommend Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu. It's tasty for the price, and getting to enjoy kalguksu and fried rice on top makes it very filling. The carefully made kimchi and seokbakji were delicious too, the space is spacious, and the owner was kind — give it a try!
