I was having lunch with my dad again today. Trying to figure out what to eat, I suddenly craved a proper Korean set meal. There are plenty of good Korean restaurants in Songjeong, but today's spot is Songjeongok (송정옥)!

## Songjeongok hours and parking in Songjeong

- Hours: 11:00–22:00
- Weekday break time: 15:00–17:00
- Parking: 3 spots in front of the restaurant, plus a roadside parking line for extra space

Songjeongok is right in front of Songjeong Beach so it's easy to get to. That street in particular has roadside parking, which is handy.

## First floor full: the second floor has tables for 6 or more

The restaurant has a first and second floor, both clean with a hanok (traditional Korean house) feel — it looked like a good place to eat with family. I visited a little before lunchtime and the first floor was already full.

There was no one on the second floor, so I just snapped some quick photos and headed back down. There are tables that seat 6 or more, so no worries even with a big group.

## Songjeongok's menu is just three dishes

There are just three menu items: abalone pot rice set for ₩19,000, abalone seafood hinoki set for ₩23,000, and whole octopus sukhoe (boiled octopus) for ₩20,000. The only real choice is whether you want the ₩4,000 upgrade to the seafood hinoki set.

## Starters: abalone yuzu salad and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)

After ordering, they set out the basic sides first — a yuzu salad with abalone and shrimp, and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). Abalone salad! I hadn't expected that at all, but it surprisingly went well with the yuzu. With the stew coming out too, the table already felt properly set before the rice even arrived.

## What comes with the 23,000 won abalone seafood hinoki set

It's not just the hinoki steam or the pot rice by itself — plenty of other dishes came along with it. I'd call it more of a good-value Songjeong restaurant than just a good Songjeong restaurant.

You'd think ₩19,000 would just get you abalone pot rice and side dishes, but pork jowl bossam (boiled pork wraps) came out too. No gamey smell at all, and since it's pork jowl rather than regular boiled pork, the fat and tenderness were spot on.

The seasoned crab leaned sweet rather than spicy, and there were also squid muchim (seasoned squid), radish salad, and seasoned clams. All in a similar-style sauce, but the different ingredients made each one taste distinct.

Personally I like eating bossam with radish salad or green onion kimchi haha

The abalone pot rice comes one per person, loaded with scrambled egg, chopped green onion, abalone, and plenty of abalone innard sauce.

Mixing the rice evenly and eating it with the abalone added a savory depth from the innard sauce, giving it a different character from regular pot rice.

The abalone pieces themselves were cut just right to eat with the rice, so every spoonful had a bit of abalone in it. And since it's pot rice, of course you can scoop the rice out and make nurungji (scorched rice).

## Seafood hinoki steam: one tray per person, with dipping sauces

The abalone seafood hinoki steam was one of the dishes I'd been looking forward to, and they serve one pot per person. It had clams, squid, shrimp, two kinds of fish cake, corn, potato, and abalone. It paired well with the pot rice overall — personally I felt the squid might have been better as regular squid rather than the pre-cut, store-bought kind, even if it meant more prep work.

They told us to dip it in the chili sauce or peanut sauce, so I tried it — since hinoki steam has no seasoning on its own, dipping it in sauce tasted much better. The plainer seafood like abalone and shrimp suited the chili sauce, while the peanut sauce added a savory twist for something different.

And once again, seasoned crab on nurungji is a winning combo!

It wasn't just abalone pot rice — the pork jowl bossam, seafood hinoki steam, various side dishes, and doenjang jjigae all coming together made for a satisfying variety of food. If you're looking for somewhere to eat with parents near Songjeong Beach, a set meal like this is a solid option. It felt good to slow down and have a proper lunch for once!
