## In short

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch is an old-style whole fried chicken pub that has held the same alley spot in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan for 16 years. Two friends ate their way through the old-style whole fried chicken, a stone-pot steamed egg and a spicy chicken tang (stew), and had the cabbage salad and egg chip snacks refilled twice. Yetnal Tongdak & Tang is rough around the edges but warmly local, with generous portions that make it an easy place for a drink.

It was one of those days when the rain drizzled on and off, and for some reason I was craving greasy fried food and spicy broth at the same time. A friend and I wandered into an alley in Yeonsan-dong we hadn't visited in a while, and a retro sign that clearly carried decades of history caught my eye. It mentioned the place had quietly stood there for 16 years, so I walked in without hesitation.

It wasn't just a place to fill your stomach — the whole space had this odd charm that naturally brought back old memories.

## What is the room like inside Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch?

Walking into Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch, the walls were covered in layers of graffiti and traces left by countless past visitors. The stacked-up marks proved that generations of people had passed through, and it added a real sense of warmth. This raw, unpolished atmosphere was perfect for settling in and having a relaxed drink.

It was fun to check out the review-event signs at each table and the menu boards taped to the wall too.

The space carried a warm mood that matched all the time it had seen, and I felt at ease the moment I sat down.

## Complimentary sides: cabbage salad and egg chip snacks, refilled twice

After we ordered at Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch, pickled radish and a sweet-and-tangy cabbage salad landed on the table first. The cabbage salad, drenched in a beige mayo sauce that instantly evoked old-school fried chicken joints, had us reaching for it even before the main dishes arrived. Add in the crunchy, easy-to-snack egg chips, and the basic sides were already satisfying. The egg chips and cabbage salad were so good we refilled them twice before the mains even came out! With cold water and soju glasses set neatly on the table, the evening naturally kicked into gear.

## Old-style whole fried chicken and stone-pot steamed egg: how crispy?

The first thing to dress up the table gloriously was the golden-brown old-style fried chicken. The moment I bit in, there was a crisp 'crunch' followed by savory juices filling my mouth. It wasn't overly fried, so even the last piece stayed enjoyable without feeling heavy. Dipping it in the sweet-spicy sauce or salt that came alongside cut through the chicken's greasiness cleanly. Even now, editing this, my mouth is watering again. I honestly want to go back and eat it tomorrow.

On top of that, the steamed egg bubbling away in its stone pot, showing off its softness, made a perfect pairing. That steamed egg was so soft I'm still thinking about it, haha.

## Chicken tang broth and drumsticks: how was the seasoning?

After we'd had our fill of the fried chicken, a big pot brimming with spicy, rich broth arrived — the tang. Inside the fiery broth were generous helpings of chewy chicken, rice cakes, and quail eggs, making it fun to fish through. A spoonful of the broth was spicy yet deep in flavor, washing away all the grease from the chicken we'd just eaten. That said, during busy hours the broth can reduce and the seasoning can turn a bit strong, so it's worth keeping an eye on the heat.

Look at this hearty chicken leg. Doesn't it look absolutely delicious?

The deep red sauce soaked really well into the meat and tasted amazing, haha.

Inside the store there was also a sign for a Naver receipt review event, with a QR code you could easily scan to take part. Taking advantage of these little events for extra service dishes felt like another small joy of the visit.
