The weather has been chilly lately, and I was craving a hearty yet clean-tasting Korean meal, so I visited Sinseon Myeonga (신선면가) in Yeonje, Busan. I stopped by while passing through, and the filling menu happened to catch my eye, so I was looking forward to it.

## Sinseon Myeonga near Yeonsan Station: location and parking

Sinseon Myeonga is close to Yeonsan Station, so it is convenient to visit by public transportation. If you are driving, it is near Yeonsan Rotary, between the Busan Community Rehabilitation Center and Dongnam Golf Plaza, which makes it easy to find. I put it into the navigation and found it in no time.

There is a commercial parking lot directly behind the Sinseon Myeonga building. I called the restaurant, and they opened it right away.

The menu is displayed clearly out front, and even at a glance, it looks well-priced with something for every taste. Let’s head inside.

## A clean, comfortable restaurant

When I stepped inside, everything was clean and neatly maintained. The dining room felt pleasant and made for a very comfortable meal. The utensil sets and dishes were tidily arranged too, showing the owner’s attentive hygiene standards. There are satisfying options such as tasting bossam prepared for groups as well as solo diners, so it is a great space for eating alone too.

With the open kitchen, you can dine with confidence about cleanliness. There is also a self-service corner and a coffee vending machine right beside it for convenient use. We had plenty of side dishes, so we did not need the self-service corner.

The tables and place settings are clean too. The jar holds danmuji (pickled yellow radish). We happily spent a moment wondering what to order on the table-order screen, haha.

## The menu and our octopus bossam set order

Sinseon Myeonga’s menu starts at just ₩7,000, making it an affordable choice. Its major strength is the varied selection that diners of all ages can enjoy without much hesitation. The individual dishes are excellent, but a set lets you enjoy bossam, stir-fried octopus, and refreshing muksabal (chilled acorn jelly soup) all at once, so the value is truly great.

- Anchovy kalguksu ₩7,000 / kalguksu + tasting bossam ₩11,900 / hand-torn dough soup ₩7,500
- Cold kalguksu ₩8,000 / bibim kalguksu ₩8,000 / perilla oil kalguksu ₩8,500
- Bulgogi bibimbap ₩9,500 / tuna bibimbap ₩9,500 / octopus bibimbap ₩10,000
- Old-fashioned king pork cutlet ₩10,000 / steamed dumplings ₩5,000 / seafood chive pancake ₩15,000
- Bossam: small (2 people) ₩23,000 / medium (3–4 people) ₩37,000 / large (4–5 people) ₩47,000

As meat lovers, we ordered the ₩35,000 octopus bossam set, plus a side of bibim kalguksu because we love it.

Many places use imported rice, but this Yeonje restaurant uses Korean Icheon rice and Suhyangmi rice, so of course it should taste even better, right? You can see the owner’s food philosophy too. It is posted on the wall like an award certificate, and it subtly works as decor. Even the flour is premium flour for fresh noodles rather than a low-cost kind.

When our order came, there was sundae (Korean blood sausage), so I asked about it. Oh! They simply gave us a tasting portion, and I thought, what a lucky bonus, haha. It was tasty too.

## Tender bossam and fire-kissed stir-fried octopus

The moment our octopus bossam set arrived on the table, I could not help admiring its neat presentation. I do not know whether the photos convey it, but it was truly abundant in person. Above all, the quality of the bossam meat was so good.

The main bossam was boiled beautifully tender with no unpleasant meat smell, with a texture that melted away in the mouth. It was mild and savory on its own, but dipping it into the restaurant’s garlic sauce made it a distinctive treat.

The stir-fried octopus that came alongside was spicy with a gentle smoky, fire-kissed aroma. It had that irresistible flavor that makes it impossible not to mix it with rice. Enjoy the mild bossam first, then add the spicy octopus, and the two flavors pair perfectly.

## Bibim kalguksu and all the accompaniments

My beloved bibim kalguksu! I was so occupied with the bossam and octopus that day that it got pushed to the back burner. Since it was made with fresh noodles, it somehow felt even healthier.

![Bibim kalguksu made with fresh noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeonsan-dong-nakji-bossam-sundae/yeonsan-dong-nakji-bossam-sundae-19-14kpn-900.webp)

While we were eating, I noticed they had lots of delivery orders too.

![Sinseon Myeonga delivery order information](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeonsan-dong-nakji-bossam-sundae/yeonsan-dong-nakji-bossam-sundae-20-1jrb4-900.webp)

This meat lover made vegetable wraps too, in the name of health, and enjoyed the refreshing muksabal alongside them. I topped plain rice with octopus, and the bossam went well with the shredded dried-radish salad that came with it? Anyway, it worked nicely with the radish, but I tried it with kimchi later and that was delicious too.

Only those who have tried mixing rice with irresistible charcoal-grilled octopus know that flavor~ I need to keep working hard today too, haha.

The tofu here was mild and tasty too. It balanced the rich flavor of the stir-fried octopus, and between the boiled pork and octopus, my chopsticks were very busy, haha. You can choose muksabal or tofu kimchi with the octopus bossam set, so next time I want to try the tofu kimchi.

The owner’s generosity continued into dessert. One each, out of consideration for other people! The two of us had eaten such an abundant meal that we took only one home as a little memento.

## Final thoughts

This is a place with the full trio: carefully made food, a clean dining room, and reasonable prices. The synergy of tender boiled pork without any unpleasant smell and boldly fire-kissed stir-fried octopus had me admiring every bite until the end. It would be great for an office lunch, a gathering, a solo meal, a family dinner, or a company dinner.
