I was looking for a place to eat with a friend when I came across Oshi Black Seongsu, a Japanese restaurant near Seoul Forest, in my search. What drew me in was the upscale interior, plus the fact that they serve approachable dishes like yakisoba and okonomiyaki. I visited and really loved that the chef cooks everything right in front of you, so you get it hot off the teppan. Let me introduce it!

## Can you walk from Seoul Forest Station? What about parking?

Oshi Black Seongsu, this Japanese restaurant near Seoul Forest, sits right by Seoul Forest and is walkable from both Seoul Forest Station and Ttukseom Station. For parking, you can use the Seongdong Sports Facility lot. It's a bit pricey at ₩4,200 per hour, but there are plenty of spots so parking isn't much of a worry.

Seongsu-dong near Seoul Forest has a lot of cafés and restaurants worth checking out nearby. The weather was nice too, so it was great for a walk.

### How I made the reservation

You can book ahead through Catch Table. I made mine through Naver Reservations, which let me grab a good seat haha.

## The message wall at the entrance and the black-themed vibe

The entrance was filled with a lovely scent. Countless visitors had left messages on cards covering the wall — dressing up a plain wall with messages like this seemed like a great idea.

Seeing signatures from celebrities among them, it seems like a lot of well-known people have stopped by Oshi Black near Seoul Forest. Japanese and Chinese visitors had left messages too. Leaving behind a memory like this, and coming back later to see it again, feels pretty meaningful.

There's also a spot to hang up your coat. It really suits a more formal occasion.

The system here is that the chef cooks in the open kitchen and brings the food to your table. Watching the chef work while eating at the bar table would be a great way to dine too.

## How was the two-person set?

### Potesara Beans (potato salad with beans)

We ordered the two-person set menu. Potesara beans is a Japanese-style potato salad, topped with mayonnaise.

It's a starter where the softness of the potato salad pairs nicely with the nutty beans. It wasn't as heavy as I expected, which I liked.

### Yakisoba pork belly roll

Next up was the main dish, the yakisoba pork belly roll. It's not just a plain egg roll — yakisoba noodles and pork belly are tucked inside.

It was sliced and plated for each of us, and we savored every bite. With so many different ingredients inside and served fresh and warm, it tasted even better. This is a dish almost anyone would enjoy :)

### Okonomiyaki

A few minutes later, the okonomiyaki arrived, piled high with bonito flakes.

Freshly made and piping hot, the okonomiyaki with its generous bonito flakes had a really nice texture.

And with plenty of sauce and a variety of ingredients packed in, it left us really full haha.
