## In short

Cafe Neorae is a large café in Sokcho, Gangwon, spread over floors 2 and 3 of the Yetgoeul Sundubu building in the Haksapyeong soft tofu village, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing Ulsanbawi Rock on Seoraksan. The writer ordered an iced Americano, Neorae tea brewed from roasted soybean pulp with no sugar, and purple sweet potato bread at a third-floor window seat; Neorae Pudding was sold out. Tables are widely spaced and the room stays quiet, making Cafe Neorae an easy place to sit with the mountain view.

I recently went on a trip to Yangyang and Sokcho and stopped by Cafe Neorae, a Seorak Mountain café!

## Where is Cafe Neorae and what are its hours?

Here's a photo of the exterior of Cafe Neorae, a café near Seorak Mountain. It's inside a building called Yetgoeul Sundubu! They use both the 2nd and 3rd floors, so you climb the stairs to reach the café.

Cafe Neorae is located near Seorak Mountain, in the Haksapyeong Kongkkot Village sundubu (soft tofu) street. It's over on Wonam Haksapyeong-gil haha. Hours are 09:00–18:00, with last order at 17:30. They're closed every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month.

## Second-floor entrance and bread display at Cafe Neorae

> The view from the 2nd floor entrance

Here's the view right as you walk into Cafe Neorae. There's a bread display case in the middle, seating around it, and a counter.

![2nd floor window seating at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-04-43f25-900.webp)

![Spacious table area on the 2nd floor of Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-05-ri8ap-900.webp)

![2nd floor seating and counter at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-06-1sjr5-900.webp)

![Full view of the 2nd floor interior at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-07-8xh46-900.webp)

Personally I think the 3rd floor has an even better view and is prettier than the 2nd, but the 2nd floor seating is also spacious and, since it's basically floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, it's really pretty too. There's plenty of seating, which is nice.

![Bread display case in the middle of Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-08-gw5yn-900.webp)

There's bread displayed in the middle and everything looks incredibly delicious. There are quite a few kinds — snail-shaped bread, salt bread, sweet potato and potato bread, haha.

![Microwave and utensil corner for warming bread](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-09-1om69-900.webp)

These are the microwaves for warming bread. There are spoons, forks, and knives too. So if you want to warm your bread up, you can just do it yourself.

## Cafe Neorae menu board: Neorae Pudding was sold out

> The menu board

Here's the menu board for this large Sokcho café. There's a wide range of ades, coffees, lattes, and teas. I wanted to try the Neorae Pudding but it was sold out that day — such a shame I couldn't try it!! There was also a watermelon drink that looked really good too.

![Stairs leading up to the 3rd floor of Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-12-1hopz-900.webp)

## Why the third floor of Cafe Neorae is bigger and brighter

And then the building's 3rd floor! Here are the stairs leading up from the counter floor. It's decorated in a really natural, pretty mood, haha.

![Bright window-filled space on the 3rd floor of Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-13-hsqui-900.webp)

The 2nd floor also has floor-to-ceiling windows, but the 3rd floor somehow feels even bigger and brighter, haha. It's bright and open, and there seem to be more kinds of tables too.

![Wooden table seating on the 3rd floor of Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-14-ukp6v-900.webp)

![Comfortable chairs facing the window](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-15-11pwg-900.webp)

There are comfortable wooden tables good for sitting and resting, plus reclined chairs facing the window that looked super comfortable.

And on the other side there were tables facing this kind of window — I bet you'd get really aesthetic photos here, lol.

![Drinks and dessert on a table facing the window](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-16-126g9-900.webp)

The bopi (view) and dessert shot are so pretty haha. One reason this large Sokcho café is famous is that Ulsanbawi rock is visible up close and huge. Sitting there, looking out the window, sipping a cool drink, eating delicious dessert, and taking in the pretty Seorak Mountain scenery — it's such a great feeling^^

![Ordered iced Americano, Neorae tea, and sweet potato bread](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-17-1cmdx-900.webp)

## How the Neorae tea, iced Americano and sweet potato bread tasted

What I ordered was a regular iced Americano, Neorae tea, and sweet potato bread. Cafe Neorae has signature drinks — Neorae Latte, Neorae Pudding, Sseoda Shupeoneo, and Neorae tea — which mostly seem to be made using soybean pulp (biji) as the base ingredient.

![Neorae tea brewed from roasted soybean pulp](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-18-cg91q-900.webp)

This photo is the Neorae tea — a tea with absolutely no syrup, sugar, or cheong (fruit syrup) added, made by roasting and brewing soybean pulp for a nutty flavor. It's subtle and delicious and really nutty, haha. That kind of taste that's healthy but also good?

![Cafe Neorae's iced Americano](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-19-166xu-900.webp)

Cafe Neorae's iced Americano has a nutty, refreshing taste, haha.

![Sweet potato bread the color of purple sweet potato](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-20-ntbk7-900.webp)

The sweet potato bread is soft, not too sweet, has real sweet potato flavor, and is chewy and delicious. They also have potato bread, so I should try that next time. The color really does look like actual purple sweet potato — super pretty and realistic.

![Ulsanbawi rock view through the floor-to-ceiling window](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-21-etc6w-900.webp)

## The Ulsanbawi window seats are the most popular at Cafe Neorae

The Ulsanbawi rock view! Along with the window seat with the bopi I showed earlier, this spot right by the floor-to-ceiling window seems to be the most popular for the view. The scenery is genuinely great lol. Photos really can't capture the whole view from this Seorak Mountain café.

![Window seat view of Ulsanbawi at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-22-13l2a-900.webp)

![Window seat with view of Seorak Mountain scenery](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread/sokcho-cafe-naerae-nerae-tea-sweet-potato-bread-23-1x6kh-900.webp)

And the drinks are even delicious too~ With great views, a relaxed atmosphere, and wide spacing between tables so it never gets too noisy, I'd recommend this large Sokcho café to anyone who wants to enjoy pretty scenery^^
