## In short

Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa is a seasonal grilled and braised fish restaurant with sotbap (stone-pot rice) in Seongsa-dong, Goyang, near IKEA Goyang. Visiting with her mother and husband, the writer ordered the mixed braised fish set (Spanish mackerel, cutlassfish and mackerel) at 44,000 won for two plus a grilled mackerel set, and liked the napa cabbage buckwheat pancake enough to order a second one. With a banchan self-bar, siraegi (dried radish green) soup and sikhye (sweet rice punch) to finish, Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa is an easy choice for a meal with parents.

## Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa near IKEA Goyang: easy parking to start

Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa is a Korean restaurant specializing in seasonal grilled fish and sotbap (stone-pot rice), located in Seongsa-dong near IKEA Goyang. My mom hadn't visited in a while and I wanted to treat her to a good meal, so I looked around the neighborhood and found this fish restaurant with a great reputation — Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa!

We drove there, and the parking space was generous, which made things easy. That matters a lot when you're eating with your parents — not having to wait around for parking was a relief!

![White-toned standalone exterior of Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa](https://img.superchart.com/images/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook-01-lb3dx-1200.webp)

The exterior was white-toned, giving off a neat yet warm feeling. It wasn't just the rustic vibe you'd expect from a typical grilled fish place — everything felt cleanly maintained, so I thought it'd be fine to bring my parents here. The building itself stood alone, so it wasn't hard to find!

## Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa location and opening hours

- 📍 Location: 60-1 Heungdo-ro 415beon-gil, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, 1st floor
- ⏰ Hours: 10:50 AM – 9:00 PM / Closed every Monday (please check break time, last order, and holidays!)

We visited as three — my mom, my husband, and me — a perfect number for a family meal.

You might picture a slightly rough atmosphere when you think of a grilled fish or sotbap place, but Min Cook Apbadang has a clean interior that suits family dinners or meals with parents really well.

### Inside seating, group tables and high chairs

Once inside, the space felt quite wide and open. Maybe because the ceiling was high, it felt even more spacious than it actually was. The tables were spaced generously apart too, so we weren't crammed next to the next table. It was a nice atmosphere for a family to chat comfortably over a meal.

There were 4-person tables well arranged, as well as group seating for larger parties. So it seemed like a good spot not just for family gatherings but also for friend meetups, work dinners, or reunions.

Baby chairs were also available, so families with young kids could visit comfortably too. They even had aprons ready for us in advance!

## Banchan self-bar with siraegi soup, and seconds on the japchae

After sitting down and waiting a little, the basic side dishes arrived.

From salad to pickles, seaweed salad, seasoned greens, and japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) — a wide variety of banchan that paired well with Korean food.

The self-bar was really well stocked — I especially loved the japchae, so I went back for seconds, haha. My mom loved that there were so many kinds of banchan too.

![Self-bar where guests can serve themselves banchan](https://img.superchart.com/images/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook-06-ny4zj-900.webp)

One of the best things about Min Cook Apbadang was being able to use the self-bar. If I liked a certain side dish, I could go get more without feeling awkward, so I ate comfortably the whole meal without ever feeling short of anything.

When eating with parents, having a wide variety of banchan really boosts satisfaction. My mom likes picking a little of everything, so she especially loved this style of Korean restaurant.

There was also dried radish-green soup, which we scooped out for everyone — and it was a real treat. The soup just went down so easily, haha.

### The napa cabbage buckwheat pancake we ordered twice

Before the main dishes arrived, one of the first things served was the mustard-green buckwheat pancake! Honestly, since we came for braised fish and sotbap, I thought of it as just a side item — but it turned out to be light and delicious. You could taste the mild sweetness of the mustard greens along with the clean, mild flavor typical of buckwheat pancakes, making it a nice thing to nibble on between bites of richer food.

We liked it so much while eating that we ended up ordering another one, haha. It paired well with the braised fish sauce too, and it was great for whetting the appetite before the sotbap arrived. It was surprisingly delicious 👍

## What comes in the mixed braised fish set for two?

Our main order was Min Cook Apbadang's mixed braised fish set for two. It costs ₩66,000 and comes with:

- Seasonal mixed braised fish (Spanish mackerel + cutlassfish + mackerel)
- Sotbap (stone-pot rice), 1 pot for 2 people
- 6 seasonal side dishes
- Salad
- Mustard-green buckwheat pancake
- Seasonal soup
- 2 kinds of wrap greens

That's the whole spread! Rather than just one type of fish, we got to try Spanish mackerel, cutlassfish, and mackerel all at once — a really good menu to share with my fish-loving mom.

![Mixed braised fish with Spanish mackerel, cutlassfish, and mackerel](https://img.superchart.com/images/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook-10-cj7qg-900.webp)

The braised fish had a thick, well-reduced sauce that soaked nicely into both the fish and the radish. The seasoning wasn't overly spicy or sweet — it was the kind of flavor that goes great with rice. The radish was cooked so soft it gave way with just a light press of the chopsticks. Put a bit of that sauce on rice and a whole bowl disappears fast! Braised fish really does taste best with rice.

### The Spanish mackerel was the most memorable fish

What I enjoyed most that day was the Spanish mackerel. The braising sauce had soaked in between the flesh, but the fish's own clean flavor was still there, so even with just a light touch of sauce it tasted great. The texture was soft and flaky, and personally, I really loved it.❤️

![Braised Spanish mackerel flesh with sauce soaked in](https://img.superchart.com/images/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook-11-yagzg-900.webp)

My mom and husband both said it was delicious and ate well too. Of all the fish we had that day, the Spanish mackerel left the strongest impression on me. If I visit again, I'd want to order another dish with Spanish mackerel in it.

![A piece of braised fish pulled apart with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook-12-12e5a-900.webp)

Along with the Spanish mackerel came cutlassfish and mackerel too. The cutlassfish, deboned and put over rice with sauce, was delicious, and the mackerel's distinct savory flavor paired well with the braising sauce.

Eating three kinds of fish at once meant each had a slightly different texture and flavor, which made it fun to pick and choose. If you like braised fish, a mixed set like this might be even better than one with just a single type of fish!

## One sotbap pot for two, finished as nurungji with water

Min Cook Apbadang's braised fish set came with sotbap, one pot for two people. Sotbap is a must with fish dishes.

The rice was freshly cooked and warm, and went great with the braised fish sauce. (Pouring water in for scorched rice-style eating was also amazing.)

We put fish on the rice, added a bit of sauce, and in the end even scraped up every last bit of rice left in the pot. Grilled fish and sotbap really is a combination that's hard to get wrong.

## Adding the grilled mackerel set my mom loves

One more thing we ordered was Min Cook Apbadang's grilled mackerel set, priced at ₩22,000. The braised fish was delicious, but my mom loves grilled fish, so we ordered the grilled mackerel too. The mackerel came out with a nicely browned exterior and thick flesh. Pulling off a big chunk with chopsticks and putting it over the sotbap — the savory mackerel with freshly cooked rice was such a great match.

When you try to grill fish at home, you have to worry about the smell, and even with an air fryer, cleaning up the oil and fish smell afterward is a hassle. So for me, eating grilled fish warm and fresh at a restaurant like this is much more comfortable than making it at home. My mom enjoyed the grilled mackerel too, so it was worth coming.

When the food came out, we also got to see a cute serving robot. It came right up to our table carrying our ordered dishes and delivered them — so cute, haha. It even 'smiled' while dropping off the food!

## Why Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa works for a meal with parents

Watching my mom enjoy the banchan and the fish made me happy too. When eating out with parents, you tend to look for something light and clean rather than something too strong-flavored, and Min Cook Apbadang fit that perfectly.

![Full Korean table spread with braised fish, grilled fish, and sotbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook-17-nx63r-m-900.webp)

Being able to have grilled fish, braised fish, and sotbap all together, plus a wide variety of banchan, made for a spread that older generations would really appreciate. If your parents love fish or sotbap like mine does, this place should suit their taste well.

![Dishes on the table after finishing the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook/goyang-ikea-fish-stew-hotpot-rice-minkook-18-c7s98-900.webp)

On the way out, I noticed they also do takeout — 3 packs of banchan for ₩10,000, which is a great price. People living alone should definitely check that out!

They also had a coffee machine set up separately.

After finishing our meal, we had a cup of sikhye (sweet rice punch) that was set out at the self-bar. After eating a hearty meal of braised fish and sotbap, finishing with sweet sikhye left my mouth feeling refreshed! My mom loves sikhye too, so she enjoyed it right to the last sip. Having even this little dessert made the whole Korean meal feel complete.

If you want grilled fish but find it a hassle to cook it at home and deal with the smell, or if you want a clean, satisfying Korean meal with your parents, give this recommended IKEA Goyang restaurant, Min Cook Apbadang, a try!!

My mom, husband, and I shared the mixed braised fish and grilled mackerel, and I already want to try other seasonal fish dishes next time.

Especially since you can get grilled fish and sotbap together, which my mom loves, this is a place I'd recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant to bring parents to, a good spot for family gatherings, or a solid Korean restaurant in Seongsa-dong ⊹˚𓆛˚⊹
