Visiting with family for a holiday brunch, I was surprised by how different each bagel tasted, which made picking and choosing fun. Among what I tried, the Laugen bagel had the nutty saltiness of salted butter, the scallion cream bagel had that cream cheese and scallion combo, and the garlic bagel had a strong garlic aroma — each had a clear identity, and I liked that. Above all, the bagels weren't too hard — they were chewy yet soft, so they were easy to eat without feeling heavy.
